Mythic+ Leaving Penalty

I have been playing this game since the launch of Burning Crusade. I have done it all. I don’t play as much as I used to, but I thoroughly try to enjoy my time in game. I don’t have the time to raid 3 night a week anymore, but I try to stay current with item levels by doing Mythic+ content.

Today, I have spent hours and hours trying to complete a single Mythic+ without another playing just leaving because they can’t be bothered to stay with a group if they feel the timer can not be beaten. Keep in mind, we are 3 days into the new season, with new dungeons and challenges. It’s tragic. There is not penalty for a person just leaving and wasting everyone’s time. I am not enjoying this at all. I would rather just watch YouTube videos endlessly at this point then to try again. I really think it might be time for me to leave and just enjoy single player games. It didn’t used to be like this. I feel it has become more and more toxic with players like this. If they can’t be first, they quit. And they waste 4 other peoples time and effort.

Please start talking about this, from a developer standpoint. If people are not enjoying this game then they will not play it. WoW was supposed to be a supportive and inclusive game, where anyone from anywhere could get together to achieve common goals. But it has become something else. I honestly believe there needs to be a penalty for the first player to leave a Mythic+ mid-run. Take away Valor. Lower their key. Lower their Mythic+ Rating by 50 points for abandoning other players. Please. This needs to stop.

brother what mythic + key level you are doing? please post on your main character. Also i dont want to be punish because a group can’t figuer out simple mechanics and I dont want to be stuck in a M+ for 3hrs + while the dps figuer out what to do. Does not make sense to punish people for that. I’ve yet been in a group where people leave because of timer, all loot is like 90% upgrade for most people even in the lowest keys.

I’ve had plenty of 15 keys fail dye to people flipping out. Had a hunter in a 13 junkyard freakout because of the route the tank was taking.

I wasn’t aware it wasn’t posting to my main until after I posted. My main is 272 prot paladin. And no, we weren’t spending 3 hours in a single Mythic+. And it absolutely makes sense to punish players who waste other peoples time, just like the random heroic debuff when people leave. And for reference, it was a +8 Lower, a +9 Lower, and several others.

How did that make everyone else in the group feel? It’s not good.

You can’t police PUG content, that will kill it. You have solutions: Join a community, guild, make friends.

The problem is they were manually invited by the group leader. They weren’t just some random person that hit the queue button and magically joined. Blizzard stepping in effectively takes away any autonomy group leaders have in content that was never designed with pugs in mind in the first place.

A system like that would also punish premade groups if someone has a legitimate reason to leave a key early (remember: life happens), which is another landmine Blizzard wants to avoid.

There’s also the fact that the common denominator between all your groups having people leave is you. People love to only tell half the story; how are we to know you’re not a toxic player that nobody wants to group with or if you’re just screwing simple things up and pissing everyone off?

They already do. They have a debuff that won’t allow you to join other groups for 30 minutes when you leave.

And about community/guild, that doesn’t work most of the time. Individuals work and have different play schedules. You can’t expect people to not play during their free time in the event they have no guildmates online to play with.

Hi there. People who realize they’ve tragically joined the key of a boost buyer shouldn’t be penalized for leaving, nor will they ever be. If you’d prefer to ever have people leave then play with people you know/trust.

I love all the toxic hate players just negatively responding here. Pointing fingers and tearing me down. This is exactly what is wrong with this game now.

nobody wants to be held hostage in a key.

if you need to learn, and know you’re going to be wiping a lot…join a completion key, or play with friends…

Your mistaken. LFD/LFG is not the same as PUG content I’m talking about. I’m meaning player-formed groups with the expressed intent to run keys or run raids. You cannot hold people hostage in that. One is automatic, the other is manually driven.

Imo, people need to be better about listing their group and talking beforehand. If a group is listed as completion, don’t join it unless you have an hour and you’re willing to wipe for a bit. Ideally you don’t need it but don’t flip out on your leader if you join a group marked as completion and you miss the timer.

However, I think it would be awesome if you got fair gear for bosses you’ve killed. If a run ends after the first boss, for example, one person (not the leaver) gets a 50% chance at a piece of gear. Three bosses down? Someone gets something and someone else gets another thing 50% of the time.

I’m so sick of people leaving my Tazavesh key. For example yesterday, I had a healer leave my 13 Tazavesh key, on the third or second boss or so, my group was able to get to the last boss but with only 2 minutes left, we wiped the first time on the last boss so I just decided “I’m done.”

Yeah, another annoying thing is people leaving the group before things even start. Like why bother joining in the first place?

There should just be some sort of leaverbuster system that only punishes you if you consistently leave keys.

It could start out with a few warnings about leaving dungeons, and then increase to banning from partaking in mythic plus for certain amount of time (a few hours to rest of the season).

That way only repeat offenders get punished. I do believe there are lots of reasons to leave a key, but chronic offenders need to be reprimanded

Sometimes, they join in and see that there is a player who they don’t like or think shouldn’t be in that key. Or they think that the group won’t be able to do it. Either way, it’s much better that they leave before the key is put in

Yeah, I agree if LFD has this then M+ needs this too.

Absolutely. Now we are talking. What can be done to make it better for everyone.

Might’ve seen something they didn’t like… like a warrior that’s not wearing two maxed out legendaries, or wearing PvP trinkets instead of PvE trinkets.
