Even after pugging KSM this season, I still want to go back in and push my rating even higher. I find it quite enjoyable to accomplish something with total strangers, I would encourage everyone to try it. It’s a really awesome feeling when you get the achievement and a bunch of people that you never played with before are excited for you.
I’m already bored senseless of daily quests, and it’s hard to just go raid whenever you feel like it. With Mythic+ though, I just hop in a group finder and I’m off to have some fun. I really hope that moving forward the dev team leans in to Mythic+ even more. Yeah, I get that some runs can be a nightmare, but I would say 99% of the time I have fun.
The only issue that I have with the entire system, is the items that you can’t trade because they’re an item level upgrade. Really sucks when I get a 4 iLVL upgrade that I could have given to a teammate that needed it WAY more I did. That is without a doubt the worst thing about Mythic+ at the moment, it’s almost like the system is designed so you can’t be generous to people.
Wouldn’t the lack of timer trivialize the content to the point of being unfun? I know that as a Venthyr druid I can absolutely murderize just about anything as long as my cool downs are up. The timer makes it exciting don’t you think? Having to really learn the dungeons and how to best make use of your abilities, that’s what I think is so exciting about it.
Why do you beseech that? In most cases it’s far easier to pug KSM than to get it with guildies. If M+ has taught me anything it’s that guildies hold you back.
Even guilds that have fairly dedicated raiders have usually maybe 3 people who are actually good at M+ and want to push.
Have you seen all the “omg punish leavers!!!” threads on the forums? Not to mention the fact that it’s far more enjoyable to play with people you know and like. Well, to me at least.
Plus, I heal exclusively. There’s no way I’d subject myself to a full group of pugs, I cherish my sanity and playing a rousing game of Pug Lotto with it sounds thoroughly unappetizing.
I have noticed the PUG community is amazing to be honest. Most of the higher keys that I run consist of people that are very good. Just this week I ran into a tank that was utterly amazing, and I was dreading pushing this week, but they made it look easy. Pugging is always a pleasant surprise for me.
The people you pug with are in guilds too, probably playing with guildies themselves, and just needed a spot filled.
Sorry if you’ve not found a guild that works out for you, but as someone who has gotten ksm twice now entirely with guildies, it’s not really possible to generalize all guilds that way.
M+ is based on completion with a bonus for timing. You can spend 3 hours in one and get almost the exact same rewards.
I know a lot of people seem to have an issue with the timer existing at all, but just finding a completion run or going with friends who don’t care about timing negates it altogether.
This is exactly how pug raids work. You just join groups at bosses you want to work at and drop when you want.
I don’t find it super fun to re-progress on the same dungeons for 2 years. KSM is an accomplishment, but I feel like it’s only interesting once per expansion. Seasonal affixes aren’t really that big of a gamechanger.
I do agree that M+ was a really good thing for WoW though. Putting so much dev time into Dungeon Content that would be totally dead 3 weeks into any given expansion if players weren’t forced into it after outgearing it for badges/currency was silly. M+ lets dungeon content stay relevant on its own merits instead of… that.
It’s not ignorant, read what I wrote. Of course those people are in guilds.
But if there’s only ~3 who are any good in your average guild, then they can’t make a 5man team without pugging.
But any or all 3 of them can join with any number of other sets of those people from other guilds and pug.
Thus you have a thriving M+ pug community that can complete content together, but not with guild groups.
Heck, join a 4 man guild pug some time. You’ll generally find that you’re carrying 1 of the 4.
Or do something like watch high push key streamers, or look at who comprise MDI teams. They’re never made up of 5 guildies.
And it’s simple math. In your guild you have the pick of a small subset of possible people. In expanding outward you have access to thousands. Which is going to have a bigger group of quality players?
yeah i haven’t seen any big issues, this week or any other. “leavers” are few and far between. the higher your score gets, the better the pugs get. i’ve also had no issue with the servers everyone whines about… some of my best pug groups are from rag/az.
I’m glad you enjoy M+. Personally I’ve always found it extremely harsh, stressful and anxiety-inducing. Maybe I would enjoy it more if I had a good group of friends or a guild that’s willing to be patient with learning folks, and that won’t rage, kick or insult you over a mistake, but sadly I have yet to find a group like that.
It just honestly makes me wish there was more to the game than M+, but that’s where all the attention seems to be going these days.
I mean, to each their own of course.
Personally, I really enjoy M+.
Season 1 I got KSM on tank/healer/melee dps all 100% via pugs. Was fine for the most part.
Season 2 I quit tanking and got KSM on healer/range dps /melee dps. Most of it via pugs, but more runs with the guild.
I am NOT enjoying pushing higher keys with my rogue or hunter.
I do enjoy it A LOT pushing higher keys with my healer however.
Kinda odd that I picked the hardest role to push higher keys with
