Mythic + group composition

G’day all,

A few of my friends and I are looking to put together a regular mythic + group as its something we have never really done much

We have no illusions of clearing the cutting edge shiit, but also don’t want to go with a totally garbage group combo

Tank will be a BrM Monk, heals is Rdru, we have an assass rog, and Spriest dps. Last spot is tossing up between Ret or Boomy

What will be more valuable in this group? Beam and treants? BoP and LoH? or doesn’t it really matter?

Thanks all!

Boomkin all the way. Makes life so much easier on certain affixes. The rest of the group setup looks decent enough for 10+.

The main improvement would be to drop the spriest and pick up a DH. Other than that it’s a good lineup. As is it’ll be fine though

Really, kick your friend in favor of doing marginally better for yourself? Not everyone is that heartless. This guy is pretty obviously not going for strict min-maxing.

I don’t think Pickles was necessarily suggesting ditching our friend, rather that if he happened to play a DH instead it would be a better mix.

So is ret just no good? Or is it just that boomy is a better fit?

Boomkin provides great utility. Treants are fantastic on necrotic, skittish, any situation where the tank needs to kite. They have root, cyclone, pushback, good dps. The only weakness is there interrupt is on a long CD, although it is very powerful. They can burst dps quite well with CD’s up.

Spriest provides a dispel, some off-healing, fear, and decent damage from what I’ve seen so far, but they can’t touch Boomy or DH with their kit.

Monk is a great tank though and RDruid is arguably the best Mythic + healer at the moment. I have not run with many RPally’s so far although with gear they can dps ok and they have some utility. They definitely are not meta though.

At the end of the day, if you are looking to push 10-15, you should be fine with your setup as stated. Play what you like…

Methweave summed it up nicely. It’s not that Ret (or SPriest, etc.) is bad, but there’s limited slots in a 5 man group and you ideally want certain classes to deal with mechanics and affixes. Ret looks to be shaping up well agains reaping however, so they may see a little more action in M+.

As mentioned, that lineup will be fine for 10-15s. The main thing is to play with the same group and you’ll develop a rhythm that’ll work for your lineup.

My main is a prot paly, and this rogue is my alt. Our group is never the “meta lineup”, but we seem to do alright - and we’re pretty average.
