HI! Like most people I run 2 Details damage windows when running Mythics.
1 - Current Damage Done Segment
2 - Overall Damage Data
Whenever we finish the dungeon my numbers drop quite a bit from the Overall Data. Specifically my character the most in groups. I feel like I’m doing something wrong.
for example - My last run shows 2 different numbers. Damage Done Overall 5k/3.0 M and the Current Segment of the dungeon had me at 4.5K/2.5M. As you can see overall data is giving me 500k more dmg. I don’t understand why these numbers are so different. Is overall padding numbers that don’t matter? I don’t get it
I’m not an expert but did you wipe in the dungeon at all?
I’m not sure if that changes it but it could. For instance- Effective damage would be the lower overall where as the higher overall would be after wipes.
Again I’m not an expert just spit balling
Hi!
Details hold limited amount of segments (i think 10 or so), so as the name suggests the current damage done segment is only accounting for damage done in those segments. If the number of pulls in your current run exceed this number of segments, damage done in earlier pulls will not count for current damage done, but still counts for overall damage data.
For example, if you do a pull a boss as your 3rd pull and you finish with say 20 pulls or so in a dungeon, the damage you have done to the boss will not show up in current damage done segment, but will in overall damage data.
There are two measurements of damage available. Effective time and activity time. The default is effective time, which is the number that logs and most people go by when discussing DPS. This is your actual damage per second with deaths, RP, and time not hitting anything if all considered. Activity time starts and ends when you are actually actively attacking things. So the overall DPS will be higher as it trims the fat out. the lower number is your dps and the higher number is activity time. If the numbers are close then you did a good job staying alive and making the most of your time in the dungeon. If you click on the cog wheel icon at the top of the meter and look through the first page under general settings you can change the default from one to the other.
