The following is a breakdown per class, per roll (some combined cause their were so few) of people above the title cutoff if the title cutoff was 3400. This is based off raider io data as of 5pm:
665 spriests
564 mages
643 hpally
689 dps evoker
546 tank druid
110 DH tank
My solution, like others before have stated, is to get rid of the top .1% baseline and open it up to the top 50 players per class, per roll.
I suggest this for a couple reasons. First off to hopefully create an infusion of players playing less common class roles to get into a top 50 slot typically much lower then our current “god comp”. This will also make the most common/prevalent key class combinations more of a “if you play this you better be the best of the best cause competition will be fierce”.
I would secondly suggest to allow for accounts to occupy multiple spots, as long as those spots were in different roles. If you are a very active and competitive player who plays multiple roles you should be awarded for this. The achievements/feats of strength should be broken into the three roles with each giving the season title. So if the season title were “Ravaged” you would have 3 feats of strength for “ravaged healer” “ravaged tank” and “ravaged dps”. One player could get all 3 feats but only be allowed to hold a top 50 spot for the class they have the highest rank on per role.
The top 50 would net a total of ( 26 total roles across all classes) 1300 people receiving the title, less if some people hold multiple spots
I feel like this is a good idea. I know this season is a severe example of it, but having a system similar to how they are doing Solo Shuffle by specs, will help avoid the season end rewards going to ONLY Meta comps and overtuned classes. Allows more choice in pushing the class you enjoy not what’s best.
The top runs would just be 4/5 meta specs and 1 carry. Average joe pusher still wouldnt have a chance on his off meta spec unless he had a group of metas willing to carry him. What motivation would random pug groups at high level have to boost randoms.
a title for the top of each spec would be nice… i think it would be fine to keep it at the top 0.1% of each spec. 50 players per class is not enough.
it would be so unlikely for a regular player to be able to push for top 50 that it wouldnt even change the way most people played.
per spec title, great idea but keep it at 0.1% for each spec.
I could see the top .1% of each spec is a viable alternative to .1% of the entire player base. Hunter data is all you need to see to determine how meta biased this season has been
So shamans top the list of the outcasts. I actually think Enh is stronger than fire mage in the smaller pull dungeons for high keys. Sub rogues would be right there as well if they didn’t have a negative interaction with PI.
True and that’ll be a possibility no matter what revamp blizz comes out with, if they even do change the system at all. However, this will at least make it so their is a chance, not a guarantee, that their won’t be a mass exodus of classes from people meta hopping if they know the competition for title will be absolutely fierce compared if they just stick it out with their normal characters. Which is the system we are in right now as the data shows where 90% of title holders are meta specs
People will still swap, for sure, but the objective should be to incentivize less swapping which I believe this system would do just that
I bet you’re totally correct. It amazes me how many posts there are complaining about the 0.1% title and how unfair it is, all posted by people that NEVER have had the title and probably will never get it. The top players in the world (i.e. the players that actually get the title season after season) play whatever spec is performing the best. They all have multiple toons and play them at levels I could never hope to attain and I’m totally ok with that. I have my fun.
I agree, I thought myself top 50 was pushing it a little harshly. Top .1%, top 150, make it based off percentage of player base playing that class in m+. As long as it’s role based it’ll be a big improvement
This is my first expansion ever really doing the m+ scene and at 3162 or whatever I’m at, I’m rank 41 or so in the US but pushing higher is a pipe dream. In the 25 range its holy pally or no invite. I care less about the title and the percentage of people that get it compared to a new system that could incentivize players to play more then just the meta to push for title, which is the reason a lot of people swapped was for the title push
I’d rather just see more consistent and frequent efforts to balance classes. Last season was 4x more diverse than this one, and while not perfect a definite aspirational goal for devs to reach again and improve upon.
Suggestions like this one might make players of XYZ spec feel better about themselves but they fail to affect the core issue, they don’t change what classes a given keyholder wants in their key.
That’s a fair point, only better balancing would address that as you stated. But this would potentially lower the pool of players playing meta classes. One reason it’s hard pushing as anything other then the meta is because of the over abundance of the meta classes theirs no reason, and I hate to use this word, but theirs no reason for someone to settle for anything other then the meta. Take away this giant pool maybe we’d see more hunters or warriors or monks
