Rather than teaming up with online strangers (mainly due to high troll rates, but also too much commitment requirement from Guild/Community), we find it is a far more enjoyable experience playing with people we know in the real world.
However, due to real-life responsibilities, it is too hard to get enough people for the PvE contents (mythic & raid), especially when we want to hop into a dungeon at any random thought during a casual chat. We have been using PvP for this, but now we are looking at trying PvE. Therefore, we would love to see content that is scaled & tailored for smaller groups (eg mainly 2, but 3 max).
Maybe it could be a mix of the rated PvP (2v2, 3v3) and Mythic, where the team could be:
Tank Healer (who can actually heal others), and a DPS. Or
2 Evading DPS (who can evade damage and maybe has some off-heal capability)
This new game mode doesn’t need to compete with other rated content for personal achievement, instead, it is just enjoyment for casual people who are tired after a long day of work, to not bother with online strangers and stay away from those community/guild drama rage yelling.
I would like it, you know how many couples play this game? Also, a friend group of 5 is a regular size but 5 irl friends doing the same game and being available at the same time is pretty rare. When one or two of them is busy, it would be cool to still do something meaningful with them without having to play with strangers.
My immediate thought would be no, but maybe similar system like PvP’s conquest point could be rewarded to buy gear (that is lowered performance than M+ gear).
If it could throw in some Transmog items that would be great!
We are not interested in competitions, but to be able to save up for better look & gear is a wonderful incentive.
New ideas from players hardly ever are about a challenge, it’s always about making something easier. Then when the idea is implemented the players start screaming about how hard it is until it’s nerfed.
So I ask again, what is the challenge if you can just evade damage? Do you just want to walk in a 2 player instance and just target dummy something to get Mythic reward?
No. When I said ‘evading dps’ (maybe not the right term?), meaning just a way for dps to avoid or schedule damages because there are no healer in the team. Of course there will be consequences or cooldowns for this, and it all come down the how all the equations (in Blizzard’s game system engineer’s spreadsheet) would stack to provide meaningful challenges.
And no - not looking for Mythic reward. Please see my reply above.
