Mythic+ a proper solution (and rant) for valor and upgrading

Its not just high keys though. Lower and evrn mid tier keys are seeing higher participation rates.

Every post I have seen about valor it seems like the general consensus is that the amount of valor rewarded should scale with key difficulty in some way.

I can see some logic behind that in the sense that it requires more skill, gear, etc. to complete higher keys. But it would also probably feel pretty bad at the start of a season and also for anyone gearing a new alt.

What if instead of that they changed the cost of valor upgrades based on the gear level?

For example I believe a 2h weapon currently costs 1000 valor for any one level upgrade. What if a 376 2h cost less to upgrade than a 408 2h, for example?

At the start of the season you would still gear up faster by pushing higher keys because of the valor cap. And then later in it would still be faster to gear up alts so you can actually get invited to higher keys. Or more easily upgrade when pushing your own key, etc.

I’ve thought of the JP/VP split but your suggested implementation needs refinement.

Remove valor upgrades.

Crafting fills that niche.

It was just a band aid SL needed, not needed anymore.

I’m thinking it’s not up to date data. It would be nice if he were to post a link to trend graphs showing changes over time for different key levels.

I think the issue is that the only concern is for top players. The assumptions are that anything intended to benefit top players will have a trickle down effect and directly benefit average participants. Or maybe seeing that top players are benefitting while their own experience has declined will inspire them to suddenly become more talented.

How Blizzard managed PvP in Shadowlands is a clear illustration that there is zero concern for the playing experience of average players, or even if they continue to play.

Valor lets you upgrade tier and current season trinkets. It’s not pointless. There’s overlap with crafting but they don’t invalidate each other completely.

Everyone with their convoluted solutions that don’t actually solve anything.

The valor cap should be 1000 for the first x weeks so that weapons can at least be upgraded once a week by running mythics. If they are obsessed with this kind of drip feed upgrade then at least make it feel like you can do something each week.

The dinar system should return for each season. That way some rng is mitigated but not all of it.
