Zereth Mortis WTF Blizzard. About to quiet your broken game again.
A rare boss pops and by the time you can run there it is DEAD. Under 1 minute, if lucky. This game design is broken. Who though this was good game design. Also stop putting flying behind grind walls for each new xpac, some of us have been playing since the beginning.
It’s always best to quiet quitly.
Sorry. I couldn’t help myself.
lol if you think flying in 9.2 was a “grind” then I simply have no words
I know but I needed to vent frustration, I do feel a lot of Shadowlands game design is poorly designed-which partially explains the large cancelation of accounts lately. I will still play but not as much. I hear LOTRO calling my name again.
If you are talking about Dune bosses, they have a 1 min immunity timer, after that first the mount dies than the boss…
If you are talking about rares, they just keep spawning pretty frequently.
Admittedly I agree that the long term thought process behind this was not great. A lot of people “quit” until flying came out, but didn’t do the achievements first. I flew a friend around and got the achievement done within a matter of minutes, but doesn’t work well for those without friends.
Your best option is to pick a rare spawning that day, and check party finder in hopes someone on a smaller server needs help. Some of the larger rares are on there quite often.
Briselody it is not the grind so much as they make you grind it each and every new expansion. I feel the should just open flying up once earned for new pacs or simply do away with it. Again, game design is poor in my opinion.
What grind? Also, pathfinder has been a thing for much longer than it wasn’t a thing.
Well, if that’s not checkmate in an opening move, I don’t know what is.
You have them dead to rights. They should quiet now while they still have a chance.
Don’t bother going for ones on the other side of the map. Fortunately they spawn all over. Just park yourself in an area close to a lot of them and wait, or haunt the group finder.
Now that’s just not true. Maybe a small handful of them die pretty quickly, but most live a decent while. Meanwhile there are several that have an immunity phase after they spawn. And some that have to be manually activated to engage. You can be that person.
I’m more peeved about the 3-4 hoops involved with the mount system: schematics, then rare components with a less than 1% drop rate, THEN a long grind to get motes… not necessarily in that order… just WHY? Also why are half the components in a raid or abysmal drops from an over priced chest?
I will agree on the rares. There’s a few left that I need, and aside from just camping the spot, it’s invariably one that gets burned down almost immediately after it spawns. Maybe bump up their health or something.
The whole Pathfinder thing is annoying, but I do get why they want people to deal with it from ground level once. I was VERY happy that the current version was based on the Campaign and not rep locked. ZM Flying took me about 1-2 days, getting the initial static treasures wasn’t bad (extra easy if you have a friend with a 2 player flying mount to help), and the longest bit was completing the ZM campaign.
It does unlock across the board on your alts though, and you get to skip the intro quests and junk to be able to get straight to ZM for quests/farming.
Lol what? It’s like pulling teeth to get any rare kills in past the ones right in the way or the ones with unique drops past Tuesday/Wednesday. I sometimes will mark a rare with an icon (like say the red X) and come back 20 minutes later and, sure enough, red X will still be on it.
Also join rare hunt groups and just run/move with the pack. Most are decent about listing what is next and waiting for the bulk of the crowd to get there.
Agreed, but they won’t do that. It’s bad enough they tried to remove flight and got the immediate backlash that burned them. I’ll grudgingly accept doing it ONCE their way on a toon, but then never again on the alts.
I agree that getting to the 10 rares required in ground mount can be somewhat frustrating, but i wouldn’t call it a grind. I’ve done it in one day without even focusing too much.
They must think this is good game design. If not they wouldn’t keep doing it.
I just wanted to say that typo or not, I chuckled at this turn of phrase.
Again, it’s not a grind though. You do some basic exploration achievements to prove that you’ve actually experienced the zones, and then you can fly account-wide rather than spending a bunch of money for every character.
I can only imagine how quickly the accusations of “omg bliz p2w wants you to buy tokens to fly” would start up if they went back to the WotLK model.
Yeah, this system would have been much better if the motes weren’t a thing.
Use two components to make a mount from a pattern that you have to find? Sure why not. Especially when you can just look up the pattern and buy one of the components from the AH if you get unlucky.
The motes are just annoying though.
Also maybe if the stuff in them is gonna be so rare either slash Olea cache costs in half or up the drop numbers of cyphers more than the vendor item currently does (an extra one or two is nice and all per chest but was only marginally better).
I do wish those were guaranteed at least one component, even if it’s still randomized.
Spending 700 cyphers on one of the things just to get 20 motes is rather frustrating.
