Long story short:
I’m looking for an efficient leveling experience. Ideally tank 5 mans as well to help level even quicker.
End game: Get the pre-raid BiS-but mainly I want to PvP. Maybe the occasional raid, but no hardcore raiding. More on the casual side for sure.
Thought about warrior but that leveling experience is just so “meh” to me. I really enjoy the lore of druids.
Am I setting myself up for success with MY classic goals/wants?
Thanks everyone, 10 days!!!
You’re on the right track. Druids are the easiest class to level, and almost easier to get into groups if you’re willing to fill any role.
Again, on the right track. It is possible to still do all end game obviously as a druid, but without a whole lot of effort or umpf, it might be a bit harder considering other classes perform better under mediocrity.
Thumbs up from me!
second easiest to level, hunter is easier. warlock takes more brain power
I’ve done my research. Honestly enjoy the class and have fun but don’t expect much recognition in the endgame.
yea my thoughts are, I won’t even try to get to like Naxx or anything like that, first couple raids just for gearing/the experience-but that’s about it. And at that point i’d heal or tank or whatever just for the run, ya know?
But thanks so much for the feedback!!!
for casual experiene , druid is spot on
Druid sounds perfect for you! Enjoy the experience! And try out that Wolfshead when you get the chance!
Oh I am definitely going to! Thinkin that and the pummeler for the tps
I will say one of the most annoying thing about druids in Classic is that you can’t use items while shapeshifted. Potions, consumables, other various combat items, you’ll have to shapeshift out to use. And some spells that carry over into other forms like Barkskin you have to be in caster form to use.
You’ll thoroughly enjoy Druid, but after a while at 60, you can start to see why TBC was a Druids wet dream.

yeah ive seen that’s by far the biggest downfall
I saw a forum thread earlier and was seeing with the updated macro system for classic, that it may be easier to use consumables and get right back to whatever form, so I am really curious to see if that is accurate or makes a difference.
What class you running with?
Mage as my main, Warrior as my 2nd focus. Mage is a premier dps, which is fun to me, has a very high skill cap and since I’m also Undead, I should be fairly hard to beat in pvp. Also, I won’t have multiple sets of gear taking up as much space in my bag, and I can roll one spec to raid/pvp/grind with if I choose.
They have an amazing ability to AoE farm in certain areas to make some decent gold just by vendoring stuff. QoL is implemented in the class with portals and food, and again, mages are just really strong in Classic, atleast they were in Vanilla.
that was another one I was chewing on, final 3 was mage, druid, priest. Mages just look like an absolute blast

I am going to test the waters and see how things are on my server but as of now I am leaning toward starting a guild that caters specifically to all the ‘misfit’ specs so we can run our own raids without all the bean-counting min-maxers telling us how we have to play our game…
not a bad idea, could be fun
My advice to you is to get good at carrying flags in WSG. The hardcore players who are ranking up will notice you when they are not running with their premades. Make friends with them and they will carry you to gear in raids.
yeah I have a resto build I worked on to be a giant frustration with the flag lol
If you mostly solo and don’t plan to do a lot of raiding, Feral Druid absolutely rocks. You won’t level as fast as a Hunter but there will be very little that you can’t successfully take on. In fact, mine did stuff in Eastern Plaguelands that my Hunter couldn’t touch – he was able to stealth to quest objectives that were a nightmare to get to otherwise.
And if you’re on a PvP realm, the ability to stealth is also quite handy. When you get ganked, you just rez and immediately stealth, then sneak away to somewhere less hostile for a while.
Basically, Feral Druid gives you the sneakiness of a rogue with a better capacity for survival when things go south.
I started on day one Vanilla as a shaman and played that and warrior most of the time. Towards the end I rolled a pally to see what the other side was like. Made friends with a random warrior playing ret and tossing him freedoms. As a team by the time we were rank 10 we were invited to premades and I was carried to ZG and BWL gear. Could show up as ret and toss out blessings they didn’t give a crap. You can have a much better experience than that if you can run flags for a group like that.
You want to be good at PvP and you chose feral druid?!? hahahahaha
You chose correctly! Some of the most fun I had in vanilla was PvPing as a druid.

Leveling-wise, feral’s a tip tier choice, both for solo content and dungeon running. Bear druids are arguably stronger than warriors at lower levels for tanking.
Raid-wise, feral’s fine for casual raiding. They only start to really struggle towards the more hardcore end. They’re viable otherwise.
PvP-wise, I recall Feral being pretty solid (Except against frost mages, that matchup is awful). My memory on it is a bit fuzzy, though.
So it sounds like you made the right decision.
