My thoughts on DF review of sorts (no bueno.)

I agree.

As someone that no longer wants to do bad raids or bad M+, all that is left is story. I think there is a lot of inspiration to this xpac, but this story does feel short. I am not out of things to do, but out of things I want to do – same was the case with SL.

  • Why do some rep factions not have faction events? (ugh, DragonExplore behind which campaign chapter 8 was gated is painful and requires you to do those awful selfie/photo WQs).
  • Why do dragons outside of races have vigour at all? Butterflies are stronger fliers. At least adjust the vigour recharge, which sometimes won’t fire unless you’re in a 2 min nose dive. Dragonflight does not feel epic, it’s a bloody nuisance especially when flying south to north (theory: Waygates were put in so you don’t have to fly northbound…)
  • The events are a pre-vanilla world PvP-scale disaster (crown jewel: Storm’s Fury, what’s the point of that again, to gear alts with rings?) I’ve never seen the game lag like this and it has nothing to do with your own rig.
  • The selection/dungeons for M+ couldn’t be more boring and tedious.
  • The raid feels like Molten Core 2.0 and reminds me of the dentist. You have to go but you never want to.
  • Agree the community is nothing like it used to be. Must be the loss of the vanilla crowd which quit in BFA/SL and mostly never returned.
  • I actually do like the professions, but they feel grindy. Orders makes them into pay to win now (you can get 400+ ilvls for a modest commission), which to me smacks of the inevitable Diablo battle pass coming…
  • The Trading Post/Tender is a disaster. Make sure you don’t do any activity that earns tender after you have met the max on the first day of the month, because then any of that tender in the treasure box you think you can loot is lost. Put in a ticket, they told me too bad so sad (lost 1000+ tender).
  • Not that it’s very useful anyway, but I lost 2x charges on the Revival Catalyst, where I saved charges and did the next week’s quest – and the new charges weren’t added to my total. GM said this is a bug and known issue, but too bad so sad (say what?) Seems to me the GMs are much worse in terms of actually helping and being reasonable.

Overall, the problem defined: it appears we’re unable to evolve to new forms of game content beyond M+. That’s was played out in Legion…

Mac support is so bare bones that they didn’t even test 10.0.5 on a mac, so no mac players could play for the bulk of the entire first week of the new patch.

And there wasn’t even a credit or refund given out, nor was the issue fixed: they just rolled back part of the patch for Mac players.

Your Metric doesn’t matter because it’s negative.

Lol jk (sorry had to.)

The only thing I’m not a huge fan of is constant meta balancing to where you need several alts to stay at the top, and professions. Very cool idea on professions, but it’s pretty much not profitable at all, and a complete waste of time. I’m guessing not profitable due to Blizzard allowing people to buy gold now legally. That’s a whole other topic though I’m not too happy about either.

Great game otherwise!

Disconnected can happen anywhere it seems.

I agree with all of your points. DF is heading in the right direction as it almost feels like it doesn’t need to be a second job…

I said almost because you still need to run M+ if you want to raid and it looks like, in addition to M+, I’m going to have to farm keys, to enter a dungeon, to open chests to find gems. Oh goodie :woman_facepalming:

As far as the performance goes, yes, we are totally in live Beta and I don’t appreciate it. I shouldn’t have to jump through a 1000 hoops and do the hokie pokie for a 20 year old game to work on a modern system.

Someone at work who quit WoW back in Mop asked it DF was worth coming back. I told him to give it a go, but for end game, get yourself a good guild because pugs are very hit and miss and this late in the season, you better be 400+ ilevel.

What big titles are releasing with more polishing though? Like one scarlet/violet is also a bug filled mess. Heck dial back years ago and Skyrim got game of the year when a chunk of the players couldn’t even finish the game due to game ending bugs. Even TV shows now are a crap shoot of just forcing through content a breakneck pace.

The problem lies in how quickly we consume compared to how quickly we create. It’s an entertainment consumption problem.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for dogging on the wow team where it’s deserved. I think they should be doing better and they are causing harm what has been a pretty loyal paying customer for decades when it comes to me. However, it’s not a them problem as much as our consumption rate and disregard to quality as consumers is just in the gutter. We accept because there is no better alternative.

I’m still playing Pokémon scarlet, but that game feels like a step backwards for the franchise to me.

Agree, I still play S&V from time to time but goodness the glitches in places look awful. DF on a casual level has been fine for me, seems like an okay start.

I like dragon riding but big yikes from Blizzard lol.

There is an old song among my people that says:

“If past were different
It would be another present
If future would have brought
What we lacked in the past
I would have stayed here forever
And forever would seem a short time
Everyday would be a rebirth”

That is a social critic that works well in games too.
If the people in charge of the game do not use the time to get it the things it lacks, it will eventually stale. If they have had done it in the past, today it would be different.
Now might not be too late for it, but if it does not start now, tomorrow wont be better.

I guess people seem to think the disconnecting is from Blizzard anticheat system. I have disconnected from blinking in Cobalt too. lol

Pretty sad that your new main feature triggers anticheat.

I think it is anti-cheat related as well tbh.

Some just aren’t very smart. They’re why WoW will last a bit longer but how long, Idk.

I don’t see the game makers changing the game up much more. I wouldn’t be surprised if they put in more systems in coming patches, either so it’ll end up being their formula for how they intend to make the game from here on out for as long as it lasts.

Very well said. Ty for that.

yeah just the reality of the situation… Not much effort seems to be going into the game anymore. Even if the client worked well. I would be happy. That’s been an uphill battle, something I knew was coming when they said “UI overhaul”

I mean they’re making pretty much weekly changes based on player feedback.

They’ve been putting more effort into the game than they have since Legion. Not sure what you’re expecting, them to just snap their fingers and magically fix every software glitch?

This isn’t just something happening ingame. I see it in a lot of forms of entertainment and in business.

Movies, tv shows are AI scripted which is why so many come off as hollow, uninteresting but flashy with cgi, etc…

Our world is changing and fast. Idk what will come but I have a feeling there’s still going to be quite a bit of absurdity yet to come.
Some good things, too.

Hoping for more good things. Another amazing MMORPG moving the genre forward like WoW did would be amazing to see. When it comes to video games.

Ready for something new too. This game and company has went downhill big time.

Fun meme and all, but this really isn’t a Dragonflight issue. It’s WoW’s ancient code flipping out whenever character models collide with the ground in such a way that they start to clip through it. Jump into the crack between two rocks anywhere outside of the dragon isles and you’ll get DC’ed.

I can’t tell you how much hair I pulled out every time I took a warfront portal to Darkshore only to have my character fall through the floor and boot me from the game every time I tried to log into that character. The ONLY thing that worked was the “move character to Westfall” service. And this was in BFA!
