My thoughs on Outlaw (mainly aesthetic)

So people likely already know my DISTASTE of Roll the Bones, which i think is not only an aesthetic destroyer but also just an awful ability to deal with in general and i wish it was either an optional talent (that i would NEVER pick) or flat out removed.

But i wanna mention other things, mainly the attack animations in general, they lean TOO heavily on sword-like attacks, i first i though it was mainly Fist Weapons getting underrepresented, but its actually also Axes and Maces, which i think its a big issue.

I recently gave the spec a try and this became really apparent, and i actually think its a worse aesthetic problem than Roll the Bones (i still hate that ability more though), since using anything but Swords make the attacks just look weird.

Even War Fury a spec ive been playing recently is far more friendly towards all the 1H weapons, even Execute can work with Fist weapons since its similar to you holding your hands together for a large hit.

The animations are more “generic”, so the weapons dont look as wonky compared to Outlaw.

Less on the aesthetic side and more into the gameplay, i noticed that Outlaw seems excessively erratic, with a lot of its gameplay relying on RNG almost in its entirety, from Skill Procs for extra Combo Points, to CD reduction, free skill use and off course RtB.

Idk about you but that felt just off to play, bringing up Fury again which does have some of this but nowhere near to the same extend, it was annoying to keep track of all the procs that came constantly to the point the spec just felt like a complete mess.

Idk how more veteran Outlaw players feel about this, but thats how it felt to me.

I miss Combat… them reworking it into Outlaw pretty much killed the spec for me.

The aesthetic of Outlaw was a pirate theme in Legion. If they had given glyphs for other themes like a high way thief, or an all purpose agile fighter there would have been less complaining.

This is why Sensus was excited to post his thoughts and footage of Outlaw from the early alpha. Outlaw actually did have a theme once which was a pirate. The problem is they should have had cosmetic glyphs because not everyone views Outlaw as a pirate.

But once the aesthetic of pirate Outlaw went away so did the game play like Parlay, Cannon Ball Barrage. BTE stun turned into BTE debuff you had to maintain. Ghostly Strike used to be fun to use as it wasn’t crippled by design flaws. Dreadblades as a vampiric pirate theme was okay had they tuned it properly. CD reduction of CloS following the piratey ghostly theme.

Combat had a clear theme to as a master of at arms of all combat weapons and being an agile fighter with maces, daggers, swords, axes, throwing knives, etc.

A glyph like cross bow Pistol Shot or BTE would have made a big difference in aesthetic.

Oh yeah i noticed this, i dont like it, it just gives use another thing to maintain and another unnecessary skill slot to fill
