“My son The day you were born, the very forests of Lordaeron whispered the name, Arthas.”
This might be the spookiest line in warcraft lore for me.
Another spooky thing was the vison’s of yogg in the old uldar raid with bolvar and also the dragon flight.
And the yogg music which played at Lich king’s icc death. Oooo super spooky
Yogg also appeared in legion which was super spooky:
“Before the last shadow falls, the Father of Sleep shall savor his feast.”- Li’gynoth’s
“All places, all things have souls. All souls can be devoured” - yogg puzzle box
I feel like blizz’s story team was lining up the ultimate tennis serve but just walked off court went home and took a nap in 9.2
Do you think we will finally get closure on how dragon’s and the lich king were connected in yogg’s vision when they reveal the next expac or were these just random and things thrown out and replaced with “0 character death robot lord zoval” ? Do you think all this untapped plot dispersed with the spirit of Arthas? Why was all the spooky energy thrown out and not used?
Those who inhabit the area of Tirisfal used to feel two conflicting energies emanating from the earth: the remaining spiritual essence of Keeper Tyr, and that of his enemy Zakajz. Some tapped into Tyr’s energy; others would become attuned with the C’Thrax’s dark aura.
There has been stories that something was buried under the forest and those who lived in the area would hear whispers. It may relate to all of the dark creatures that are drawn to the area.
Danuser literally TLJ’d Arthas’ legacy, so I very highly doubt we will get any more story beats relating to him. In the end, he was just a 35 anima sphere that Danuser wishes us to forget.
Almost every single thing in the lore is now attributed to that plank of wood, so yeah you’re on the money there
Anything to do with the Lich King, Nerzhul, death magic, Arthas, etc, is now “dealt with”.
I wish it wasn’t the case but yeah, any interesting plot relating to that stuff is dead and gone now.
I guess if you’re talking about lordaeron as the whole landmass, then that would include eversong. They have treants there. So they could whisper. I guess maybe gilneas too. But I’m pretty sure in that speech he’s talking about the kingdom of lordaeron. Their trees were boring. Now they’re dead boring
Instead of lore for The most important King in Warcraft history, we got Bron the Bland aka Pelagos, we got told Tyrande never really cared about Teldrissil, we got Sylvanas pulling a reverse Danyrys and getting redeemed after burning Kings Landing, and we got told Arthas never really mattered.
It’s a shore of murlocs, a shore of bears,
Of Highborne souls of yester-year
There’s a tree that can talk
But it’s a long @%&$! walk
It’s a dark, dark shore!
Go play the Legion DK campaign and compare that to how it’s all gone down.
Legion felt like they were building up Bolvar to be an anti hero or even potential villain to round out the scourge storyline. Instead he gets kicked off his throne and becomes an idle NPC in Oribos.
For me, the spookiest line in WoW was in BfA when Malfurion grabs the troll invader by the neck (after killing his party) and telling him, “Tell her, ‘We. Are. Coming!’” Holy crap on a cracker, Malfurion Stormrage had entered the game (very briefly). The most powerful character in the Warcraft universe who isn’t some kind of deity was always the king of hippies and then he got pissed off–talk about epic.
