So I finally downloaded the PTR and give it a whirl.
Does it do better DPS than me … maybe?
I consider myself a reasonably informed player. I don’t do sims nor do I memorise rotations from websites. However I do read tooltips and apply common sense - you know play the game.
The Button does some interesting things I would never do.
Some I don’t do because I play very conservatively and don’t burn every CD the moment it’s available - I’m one of those people that refrain from using consumables in games because “I might need it later”.
Some I don’t do because I never thought of it - e.g. using that CD reducing AoE I can’t remember the name of; what an odd ability I have to say.
Will I use The Button? I don’t know.
For one, holy RSI Batman. Spam one key with no breaks in-between for minutes on end is a good way to destroy your tendons. Ironic really, it’s meant for people with disabilities but might actually give you one.
I also don’t obsess over DPS meters. I just want power to survive and clear delves.
Will it make me a better player? Probably not. I have no idea why it does the things it does.
Thanks for reading my review of The Button after I tried it for 15 minutes.

Being a reasonable player with what appears to be zero end game experience of note and likely isnt versed in game mechanics. Why did you believe this deserved another thread on a spammed topic?

lol…currently I dont think it or bliz does either.
Hopefully theyre busy tweaking it.
Thanks for the feedback. I’ll tell you one thing that may be an L for me with the rotation assist. Your eyes are bouncing all over the place on the rotation bar. It feels less smooth as just knowing what button to press in a given scenario.
The one button though is very interesting. It does take practice to be effective, but I found myself having to track the spell anyway to see when I should fit in my big cd’s. So, I’m not sure if people want to play it optimally they’ll be able to just spam the button. Overall I felt like it worked better with ranged classes.
The 1B rotation also allows an aoe skill like cataclysm to just be cast immediately without placing the spell. That’s another perk of it.
FWIW this is a super common trap DPS falls into and once you “just send it” every time a big CD is up at the beginning of any pull, you’ll definitely notice a bump in your overall DPS at the end of a dungeon.
There’s a real urge to hold due to FOMO on some boss or big trash pack, but generally speaking if it causes you to press that CD even a handful fewer times in a dungeon/raidpull, it is bad. Obviously don’t blow a 2min CD when there’s 1 mob left in a trash pack, but if you just entered combat and the tank isn’t pulling 1 trash mob at a time? Send it!
