My ret brothers and sisters

Now is not the time to mourn for ret. We can still stop the key from turning before it’s too late, but it’s going to take every single one of us to make Blizzard hear the hymn of a thousand voices. We ret players deserve better, our lore shows it, our measly 344 yellow damage crusader strike though small in number SCREAMS it, and our 34 damage consecration that can easily be stepped out of it due to lack of CC demands it!

We are bringers of Justice, the inescapable law, and the might of the Holy Light. Rejoice, brothers and sisters for we are not done yet. Please, brothers and sisters any noise, any echo, any complaint you have about Ret we need to say it together. We need Blizzard to unifinely know what we all want from our spec.

The idea of ret is different behind every brother and sister we have, but the idea of a Paladin bringing justice and law is the same to all of us. We are one, and we as a community must come together during this hardship and tell the one’s in charge what ret wants, no, no, I’m sorry what RET NEEDS.

Help me form this covenant brothers and sisters, and we will drive back the darkness which plagues us. Help me unify every ret player to make Blizzard hear our cries. We will not be silenced for we are Justice, and the Law. The Hymn of a thousand Voices starts with all of YOU, and we will convert their heresy in the most righteous way possible. By the Light!

If the priests could do it, so can we!

Lot of people making noise already. Savix. Asmond, etc.
Only thing Ret sucks at is PVP. PVE they seem in an OK position.

What’s that? I couldnt hear you with all this wind in my ear as I sprint around on my rogue.

Did you know sprint is a 1 minute cooldown that gives 70% more movement speed off the GCD!?

Justice demands Retribution!

The law cannot be stopped. The law must be upheld bring this ability back as a passive for judgement. The cool down is long enough on judgement anyway. Long Arm of The Law increases the Ret paladin’s movement speed by 30-45% for 2-3secs, after using Judgement.

Or make it so that Holy Power gives us passive movement speed 5%, movement speed stacking up to 5 times.

Make Divine Steed actually divine! If it’s so divine why is it stopped by roots and slows? You can atleast give us a conduit that gives us reduction of movement impairing effects on Divine Steed.

Ret needs a damage reduction ability. Atleast give us an iteration of Ardent Defender without the live through death mechanic baked into it.

Lastly, if were going to keep our horrible Auras, they need to be switched off the GCD. No paladin is going to take off Devotion Aura in the middle of battle ESPECIALLY WITH A GCD to cast something else that could potentially save a brother or sister from dying. Also, fix the horrible iteration of Ret Aura. Make it so that everytime we cast a Holy Power ability, not affected by Divine Purpose, it reduces the cool down on party members cool downs by a certain amount of time.

Brothers and sisters, now is the time to let our voices be heard. Our charge, our glory, our retribution, OUR PURSUIT OF JUSTICE starts with you.

I see you make this argument a lot. That being middle of the pack is okay.

This data is not patchwork sim, but Castle beta-testing. & Sure, Ret along with most other melee are pretty even. But that isn’t how the public opinion will work when it’s time to apply to live raid.

The few melee spots open are now going to Rogue or DK, because that’s the way the community hive-mind works.

Atleast in BFA we had the utility of Wisdom & Kings. It’s very hard to argue what we bring except subpar numbers now.

I’m tired of these dudes, we are ok, we are good, we are viable…
We are dog poo, period.
Man, i would be so happy if we had Mop Ret with good DPS, i’m not asking to be broken, like spriest or destro, i’m asking to be viable, so i could play with the spec i’m playing almost 10 years.
If a bunch of rank 1 ret are saying they will reroll, well, we are done.
Sorry for my bad english…

They don’t care how long you play a spec. Just be happy they didn’t delete the damned thing.

I do feel you pain though. I was looking at re-rolling for SL, and Paladin feels good in BFA. I would like to be able to perform in PVE and PVP without being forced for heal though. In vanilla that was okay. This is not vanilla though.

So you want Blizzard to buff Ret until they are the highest melee DPS on the chart? And then they have to listen to all the rogues, DKS, and warriors complain about how their damage sucks, and they don’t have enough Raid utility. This looks like Ret is fine to me. They’ll nerf some classes by 2% and buff others by 2%. Striving to make each class average is what Blizzard is aiming for. Being average is what is called “balancing”. You can’t be a strong DPS without making every other class look like trash. Every class should be average, and every class should bring minor raid utility. You think Feral is happy right now? Other than a battle rez and a group speed buff on a 2 minute cool down they bring nothing. Arms warriors buff melee DPS damage by like 3% with a 5% AP shout. We reduce all damage by 3% or lower silence duration which can be very important too. No one has massive raid buffs anymore.

If you’re asking to be more powerful than another spec, you’re asking for blizzard to make your spec imbalanced. Yes, the “community hive-mind” of people in WoW is garbage. Making your class imbalanced isn’t the answer.

In PVP, yes. As I already said. We need PVP buffs. These guys that want to reroll because they are average in PVE need to calm down. Specs that are average in PVE are fine. Specs that are too high in PVE need to get nerfed. Specs that are below average need to get buffed. We don’t need PVE buffs.

PvP buffs are all I’m aiming for and a reiteration on Ret Aura would be nice. As it stands we went through cripple school to learn how to walk, and after we got out of cripple school, they gave a unicycle to ride on.

This is how it feels to play Ret. We have no control in a PvP environment, and a lot of burst/spells are on a GCD. We only have one stun and our other CC needs to be talented into.

I really want Pursuit of Justice back.

its to late for any major changes at this time blizzard is just tweaking the numbers

I do ask for more power than the specs you listed to offset our lack of mobility & utility. Scrolls are likely not returning in SL according to WoWhead.

Warrior brings 5% Attack Power
Monk brings 5% Physical Damage
Demonhunter bring 5% Magic Damage
Druid & DK bring Battle Rez
Rogues bring Shroud

Paladins can bring a 40 yard 3% dmg reduction with the new Devo Aura, ( should be raid-wide & 5% obviously)

If our utility sucks, our DMG should be higher to make us sought after. That isn’t unbalance.

You missed Mages bringing Int (and thus +Spellpower), Priests bringing Stamina (and thus +Health), and Locks also bringing Brez. Unless you were only listing melee raid buffs.

Also, +3% Damage Reduction over the whole raid is about as good as a +5% magic damage buff or a +5% physical buff because those don’t affect the whole raid’s DPS whereas our aura affects all incoming damage. Yes, it’s unglamorous, but it’s a raid buff, so it’s to be expected that it’s not that exciting. It could probably do with a range buff, because it’s not like it’s a big enough bonus that raids will bring extra Rets to cover the gaps.

The big problem with the auras is that all Paladins bring them, so they’re covered by your tank and/or healer in a raid. And let’s face it - in a 5-man it’s unlikely that not only will aura be so desired that they’re a mandatory part of the meta and the meta will not include either Holy or Prot and will have room for Ret.

DHs with their +5% magic damage buff were part of the m+ meta not just for that but for their high DPS, their mobility, their survivability, and their other utility. Ret just doesn’t bring all that.

Part of melee damage is determined by attack power, and part by weapon damage. So really that 5% attack power only results in around 3% more damage.
And while Devotion aura applies to the whole raid, a warriors battle shout only benefits melee classes and hunters. Not spell casters, and healers.

Same with the monks debuff. Only like half the raid members unless your entire raid deals nothing but psychical damage. Also, a hunters Arcane shot, or a Paladin’s Holy damage as far as I’m aware does not benefit from this 5%. Unsure if bleeds do. So since it only applies to like half the damage done, the entire raid will only see like a 2-4% increase in performance on average.

Demon Hunter 5% also only applies to part of the raid, since warriors for example do hardly any magic damage at all. So their buff will likely also only increase the raids effectiveness by around 2-4% depending on how many spell casters you have.

Paladins bring Blessing of Sacrifice, and blessing of protection. You can save a healer from sudden death in situations, or reduce a tanks damage, by taking a small amount of damage for him. But these are things 90% of Ret paladins don’t bother using, so it’s not wonder people ignore aspects. I do think a lot of their aura’s do need buffing. Especially Crusader Aura, and Retribution aura.

Yeah, but in that vein; progression tends to stack range, meaning even less will get our aura.

Besides Rezan in Atal’Dazar, Blessing of Protection has been mostly reaction. Battle Rez is proaction, which suits better as Ret is hardly with the healers in Raid–can’t monitor when they need that BoP without Voice.

Blessing of Sac is cool, but it’s like us using our HoPo to cast WoG instead of TV. We are DPS in the raid, not healers. I feel like Kings is/was a better alternative to BoS for Ret.

We did have BoSac to use during BfA, so it’s hardly surprising that we didn’t use it. Getting it back is a great thing, no question. As for not using BoP for healer saves, good Rets do, or try to. However, all too often it ends up saved for ourselves, because of a lack of other defensive options.

Prot is fine and will most definitely have a spot just because the of rarity of tanks, even if blood or brm is meta. If holy isn’t meta it’s because 2ranged/1melee is, and 2 ranged/ret seems suboptimal to me.
