I come here to socialize, drop opinions and ideas about the game and generally have a good time while doing so.
I have been on here steady since about mid shadowlands. before that I dont think I visited the forms at all.
I find that in-game people rarely engage with each other in this game unless its for a specific purpose like a quest or dungeon and even then its the absolute bare minimum chatter, limited to abbreviations and buzzwords or some completely off topic vague reference.
Its hard to find good people to talk to in-game. Which brings me back to my main point of why I come to the forums.
Sometimes on these forms, if the right people are around, and with the right conversation fuel is there, some good chats and opinions are to be had, shared, and some good laughs to be had by some genuinely good, fun, “with-it” people.
Lately though, it seems that even the forms have been feeling a bit “empty” of that good quality reading/engagement/conversation feel.
It might just be me.

Could be that I’ve been busy but it feels the same.
If I had to compare it to 2021 when I joined - I think a bit more dead, but it’s far less talking about how bad the game is in comparison.
I guess less collective hatred?
I know what you mean about socialising. There just isn’t a singular place people feel like talking to one another and people in general less inclined to start a convo.
Whereas in some other games I play ingame is very active for socialising but their forums are dead.

This is generally me. I also like lurking in the lore forums for different perspectives on the story. I like meeting new people, too, but I also do like the familiarity of same folks and seeing them progress/change characters.
There’s also some really helpful folks here that can help people. A good example is that thread where a player was asking about “Why is my DPS so low?” That is so refreshing because that’s why I used to come to forums: to get help.

Curiosity of mmorpg gamers and what they are thinking, etc. I also hope that some of my comments are listened to in order to improve the gaming experience for the general population of the non-hardcore to the extreme, gamers. While by no means is dragonflight perfect, it’s a much better experience then the past two expansions.
definitley feels more relaxed thats for sure.
I really liked shadowlands and I wish that they didn’t nerf the daily and weekly bonus quests and the command table to oblivion so that I could still go back and do dailies for regular gold rewards. heck, i’d be there every day. dragon flight quest timing gives so much room to go do other content but when I go back to old content it feels TERRIBLE because all of the rewards from quests, world quests, command tables exct have been nerfed to the point where its more beneficial for me not to do them.
if the price of hides in shadowlands wasn’t 1 cent for 13k hides with 875k on the market listed under 2 silver each for the past 14 months and was somewhere more reasonable like monelite is at 5-8gp per unit, even 3gp ballpark area I would be out there having the time of my life honestley harvesting hides from the Gorm’s in ardenweald. loved killing those things. so satisfying. love building up that gormgriss too. I think I dropped and picked up skinning profession on the same character about 7 times over the life of the expansion just so I could level it up again killing Gorms in ardenweald.
one last thing:
I am really really fond of the new professions/crafting system, crafting order system and all the like introduced in dragonflight. some of the best time i’ve enjoyed playing with professions is this expansion. theres a lot I have to say about what could be improved upon, i’ve made posts about it, whatever. still take it for what it is, a great system. just needs to be opened up a bit more in my opinion.

The forum goes through cycles of ups and downs.
There are some debates that start heating up, going in circles and sort of suck the oxygen out of the room.
There are people who enjoy just watching the world burn and keep trying to ignite fires.
All of us have the occasional bad day/week/month when we’re less constructive than we hope to be.
I can’t think of a single expansion since I started posting here that didn’t have one really bad spell where it felt uncomfortable, unwelcoming and uninteresting for a month or two. But eventually the pendulum has always swung back and I’ve found the fun of being here again.
I do sometimes wish I was better at coming up with interesting discussion topics to start rather than just reacting to what other people start. Alas, I seem to kill more conversations than I start.

I posted a topic yesterday about reading and responding to topics with over 50 replies.
If im browsing the forms and come across something that I think “Yeah, I’d really like to throw in my opinion on the matter because its something im half passionate about” then i look over and there 13.87k replies, theres no way im going to click on that thing.
except for the rare few times I took just to read the inial post and scroll down to about 50-100 replies and the chat is just BLASTED FULL of walls of text, dabbling on and on calling in reference from other places people and posts and HUGE images all over the place with absolutely no relevance to the topic or any previous post. jammed full of 2 word comments mostly abbreviations and buzzwords time and time again. its like. man. are people just posting trash just to get their post numbers up so they seem to know more or have been here longer or are more important than people with less than them? anyways, i’ve only dug into those mega threads about 2 or 3 times and i saw all i needed to see.
There’s definitely less people posting. There used to always be like 10-15 threads that would be bumped and have the “1 min” notification update thing, but now it’s only like 1 or 2.

im literally just going to sit here with a cold drink and listen to music and watch that good dog dig for a decent post until i get a notification from another thread or someone posts here.
not a bad way to spend a saturday i suppose.
