Hello, Winterishere from Galakrond. I will be giving my opinion on my experience only. I have played since vanilla, I went to releases at midnight in hollywood, I’ve been to blizzcon, done the whole shibang.
Blizzard has ruined the game by neglecting classes that need help, not allowing any refund on crafted legendries and an absolute poop show of “customer service” (Average 14 day timer for ticket response… what? haha). I won’t even say that the lack of effort in “polishing” would be a cause because people would live with it if it was address or recognized in the very least.
Frost mages are absolute garbage in M+ and Raids, so much so that people wont invite you to groups and well, I can’t exactly blame them.
Be me; 197ilvl io~530 and unable to do more than 2.2k overall damage in M+6 or greater. Meanwhile, hunters in blues, boomkins in greens can pass you up all day long. Not only that, Frost mage requires one of the highest APM’s to be effective. So, you do twice the work for not even half the payout.
The game is completely riddled with bugs that the Devs deny or just pay no attention to. Things from quests not completing, to falling through the world, to casting ‘invisible’ Ring of Frost or Door of Shadows. If you’ve been subbed to /r/wow then you know of some of these bugs but there is also so many more than that.
There’s terrible negligence throughout the entire expansion; the decals on the floor in Castle Nathria allows your feet to go through (I know this is just nit picking now, but to not just raise the floor there or make the decal a physical object is just pathetic.) You have mailboxes stuck in walls, Great Vault not working properly, pets becoming absolutely huge, mounts headbanging and the buglist is just endless. But, I guess this is what happens when your “beta testers” are people who are twitch streamers and don’t really have any sort of motive to resolve issues and in fact, the only motive they do have is to find exploits and keep the secrets for themselves until they get hotfixed.
(Could name drop the streamers here but it really isn’t worth it.)
Then you have the most obvious issue of trading M+/Arena carries for real money. This has been an issue for years and I know several people (unfortunately) that have paid real money for these carries. We had botting happen on day one (look at ownedcore’s website - that’s where it was hosted, and is a site that has been around since before the Honorbuddy days.) You also have people that are gold whales, which on servers like Tichondrius it’s not so much of an issue since they’re so many, but on servers like Galakrond you have people buying everything on the AH just to repost at double the price.
Activision Blizzard has 0 intent on resolving any of this and when they ask for you to submit feedback it’s like a double slap in the face. First you take my money, then you take my time just for me to moronically realize that it’s all a scam and the people at the top of the leaderboards aren’t their because they’re actually good but because they were in the know for having provincial access during beta.
It’s a huge shame because its an OK game that could have restored the greatness that it once had during the Burning Crusade days but instead we got a half-arsed bag of poo. Game looks great, decent story, crappy rewards and very few cutscenes. BFA had double the cut scenes as SL and I’m not sure why.
Great vault loot is scuffed even when it works right: Why would you create a system where it’s best used when you open it right before reset and not the day it reset? In what world does that make sense?
There was no one straw that broke this camels back, it’s just the combination of everything that really makes this game not as enjoyable anymore.
The game has become who can exploit whatever the best.
I’m not a huge fan of Riot but I guess I’ll have to wait and check out their MMO.
That’s my rant, I’m sorry, but I feel better now.
