My problems with World of Warcraft

This is just a transfer from the old forums to the new forums

Before you read, these are just my opinions on the game as a whole. This is going to be one huge forum post. I know really no one is going to read it and it’s going to get trolled a lot but atlas I wish to voice my opinions in the off chance a blizzard developer will read this post.

So let’s continue.

1. Nothing to do.

I grew up on WoW and have enjoyed this game since vanilla. I have taken breaks from in between and always finding myself coming back to give it another go. This game changed so much from before where instead of exploring and seeing the world for the first time, enjoying the areas and looking for fun stuff to find in game and easter eggs, I feel like the two zones we have now in BFA are well… dull.

I have nothing to look forward to in the open world. The only thing I slightly enjoyed was the fact that world pvp exists again. However, it’s not much of an enjoyment where the world pvp consists of a group of players doing world quests and thats it.

World quests also offer nothing for me to give me any sort of incentive to do them. It’s been 3 weeks now and I have not done a single world quest because I feel the rewards are trash to compared to what I have now. I know reputation is still massively needed and the only way to get that is basically through world quests which are also boring and repetitive. They aren’t fun to do.

The only thing I have to look forward to and the only reason why I log in to play still is to do a mythic + for the week, and do heroic uldir. That’s it. My entire guild logs off after raid, not to be seen anymore for the rest of the week until next raid day and then rinse and repeat. I’m now playing other games on off-raid days to have fun.

What’s even worse that even after doing mythic +'s or uldir, I can get gear I need but because it didnt titanforge or anything it’s useless to me, and then it’s to repeat the same stuff again next week. The RNG is dumb, and this system shouldn’t exist. If you WISH to keep it, the best way to handle this titan forging system in my opinion would be to be able to upgrade your armor TO titanforged stats instead of scrapping it and hoping for a better chance next week. Similar to the oblitrium in legion for crafted gear.

2. Lack of quality of life options.

When I log into wow and do my raids and done for the night there’s nothing for me to look forward to wanting to do. I’d level an alt character but i’ve already done this about 9 times now. It’s not fun, and I don’t want to dish out IRL money to boost a character each time I want to try a new class. The level scaling system made it more of a hassle to level and alt.

I find it boring that I’m essentially playing this game alone when it comes to having an alt. I cant do any sort of content with my friends who are max level because there is no level scaling system for max players to help newer players. I wouldn’t normally have a problem with this, but seeing EVERY piece of content before BFA is considered useless because it gives nothing to help you when you are max level. Making 90% of world of warcraft’s content pointless, but a forced experience because that’s the only way you will get to the newer content where everyone is at.

The only fun thing I’m finding is putting outfits together for transmogs and even that is dull. The limitations on transmogs are unappealing when only certain classes can wear certain things, and you cant go from plate to cloth for more role play features it’s just not something thats pleasing. Especially if there is old content that DOES look cool, but because I play either a demon hunter or a death knight I can’t wear it because my class didn’t exist back then.

Fun things that would be amazing to do would be stuff like player housing to where I can get a piece of land and customize my house any way I want to and place whatever furniture I craft or buy from other players out would be fantastic. And getting to share that with my guild or friends who wish to visit would be pleasing enough for me alone to want to keep playing and having something to do.

What also bothers me is that there really is a lack of customization. I know lore is important and I get that blizzard wants races to be VERY distinct from one another, but that aggravates me that even with transmogging, I look like EVERY other player or npc in the game. There is no such thing as variety or creative freedom aside from transmogging and even that is limited. Why can’t we have sliders to adjust our face? Why can’t we customize our hairstyles a bit more? Why can’t we change our face, muscle tone, bust, hips, and etc? Why are these features not a thing in this game in 2018?

3. There’s no community.

The thing that makes me excited for classic wow is being able to see all the different players and grouping up to do things in-game and the willingness to want to do quests and dungeons with people and make friends.

In BFA i can queue up for literally everything and find a group of people I’ll never care about or see ever again because i’m just put in the system to do so. I can play this game essentially as a solo player and that should NOT be an option in an mmorpg. I get that there are some that like that, but again, this is not a single player game. There should be more community and more things to do in the world besides these dull and boring world quests. There should be stuff that I can go exploring finding things with friends and doing some special secret content like treasure hunts IN the world with people. There isn’t anything like that. Only right click a glowy object on the ground for your war resources and grey items you are gonna vendor for 15 gold and call it a day. That’s not fun.

I hate the fact that this game is sharded that it feels like a ghost town everywhere I go and I’ll never see people from my own server exploring the world with me. It’s always a shard of another server, and when it comes to world pvp it’s really dumb that after a certain threshold whether you was winning a fight or losing, that poof you are in another shard now. Fight’s over. That’s not a rewarding feeling at all and it’s super annoying. I miss the days of seeing hundreds of people running around doing quests with me at ALL times. There was no such thing as phasing or being on another shard, it was the same people who was on your server and you either grew to love them or to hate them, and that’s how it should still be.

4. The content we have is mindless and boring.

Island expeditions and warfronts are so boring that theres literally no reward with this awful artifact system in place that has no sort of gratification and is more of an annoyance than it is a helpful fun option like the old artifact system with the weapons.

I literally sat afk for all the warfronts I did and got 340 gear watching youtube videos. The content was so mindless and easy that it didn’t even require me to do anything at all to accomplish it.

There’s nothing fun to explore in the open world. there’s nothing to explore or to look forward to. I can sit in stormwind and queue for mythics all day or raid and thats all there is to get gear thats worth anything, and the only fun thing which consists of waiting. There’s no other drive for me to keep doing any of the content BFA has offered.

5. The bugginess of the game.

This is my huge final complaint.

This game feels like it’s still in beta. There’s so many odd things that happen that shouldn’t. There was ample amounts of time to test all the bugs and issues in the beta and yet still it’s like every day i’ll run into something new that has happened that shouldn’t have happened.

I feel like im playing on an unofficial server of world of warcraft but paying for the actual service blizzard is “suppose” to be offering me.

Either way this is the end of my rant and my issues with WoW. This wasn’t a “i’m quitting posts” or anything, but rather voicing my frustrations of the lack of features this game NEEDS to offer and have some better options, some of which I did not mention.

In short I think heelvsbabyface explained it best with the last two videos of comparing WoW with two other games that offer the content blizzard is lacking on. I’m just fed up with it and getting bored.

You dont play WoW to have fun. You play it like it’s another job.

This is why I so adore the role-playing community; all those things you say WoW lacks is solved by having access to a robust community of player-driven narratives that don’t rely on the overall story of WoW itself to have fun. If only more individuals put in the work and effort required to foster such communities, than WoW would rarely seem empty.

I totally agree with you. Though I never played on a role playing server, I can feel that role playing would fill a huge gap into some of the issues I may be facing. However I can see that even role playing servers are effected by some of these issues that I’ve stated above.

A valid enough point my silky songbird, there are always missed opportunities and things that could be different. I prefer to focus on what I can do and, like yourself, make what I would like to see known to the greater community.

Even if you don’t role-play, I highly encourage you to seek out an active role-playing server; there are lots of opportunities to group up without using LFG tools. Many Guilds communicate and plan events together, and there is seemingly always a buzz of activity.

Not much of an option though with all my IRL friends on a certain server. Making a new character just for role play is just not something I’m willing to put up with.
