My pc upgrade for DF

Current PC includes:

CPU : Ryzen 5 2600
Cpu cooler came with cpu
Ram : 16gb gskill trident z 3200mhz
Psu: evga super nova 600 watt
Gpu: gtx 1660 super
Motherboard: msi b450 tomhawk

Upgrade includes:

Cpu: Ryzen 5 5600x
Gpu: RTX 3060
Motherboard: Asus b550 rog strix

The computer is for WoW/FF14 and possible streaming dragonflight. Sticking with 6 cores for the next 2 years then going 8 cores. I dont need a 3070 or 3080. Its a budget build not looking to spend more than 700 dollars on the upgrade.

What’s the RAM speed? I wouldn’t get anything less than DDR 3200.

You don’t have to switch motherboards. I’d check to see if there are BIOS update for 5000 series.

Going up to the 550’s you get the PCI Express x4 slot. The 450’s only had x3. That’s a huge upgrade, especially with the 30x card. Also worth it for the USB-C.

What resolution are you playing at? An upgrade may not be noticeable in FFXIV and WoW.

if you’re going to game and stream on the same computer i would say get the 5700x/5800x and 32 gb ram if you can afford it. cpu first

I am certain pcie 3.0 and 4.0 in regards to GPUS, has minimum differences between the two especially for a rtx 3060.

USB C maybe worthwhile if OP has the needs for it.

Regardless, what OP wants isn’t bad and can easily last them for 2+ generations.

Oh, its 3200 mhz. I have it on xmp

3200 is fine. You don’t really see the difference between 3200 and higher speeds unless you’re doing wacky non-gaming things.

Thats what im planning on.

Just like ddr3 to ddr4 i skipped several gens before ddr4 became affordable. Ddr3 i had 4gb

I started out with 4gb with ddr3 with a fx6300 early 2013, 8gb when i built my ryzen computer i had 8gb. Then last year i upgraded to 16. So ill skip ddr5 for 2 years before i upgrade.
