My paste function on the forums stopped working

Okay so normally i don’t come to Customer support with things like this, but though the process of elimination, i’ve determined it is indeed on my end. Even switched from Firefox (with tons of addons) to Edge (with no addons, i never use it) and it was still happening on the fourms: I cannot just paste on there.

This isn’t happening on any other website as i can paste just fine there. And my buttons work fine.

Is there anything i can do to fix this on my end? Is there anything that could be wrong with my Bnet account or forum account or something?

It is working on Android. It is not working on PC under Chrome either.

Just came here to report this after trying to paste an imgur link in a bug report thread. It fails on both Brave and Chrome, and I even wiped literally all data besides my Google account from Chrome to test what would happen and it unfortunately is still an issue.

It seems to affect only the post body, however. If I go to make a new thread, the topic title allows pasting as expected.

So somebody actually did found a solution for me on the other thread, it was simply enabling the markdown button to bring back the old style quote thingy. The one with the M↓, next to the A in the reply pane

So it was a user error on my end after all… It’s just blizzard updated the forums in a way that was off by default and i had no idea it existed til then. And i’m keeping it on.

I sure do love unannounced updates that remove basic features for “reasons,” thanks for posting the fix.

Oh, how utterly bizarre. Zero reason that should have been default.

Seems the “new” editor is a rich text editor, but that’s the first RTE I’ve ever seen that has pasting from clipboard non-functional.

Well, there’s only one reason.

That’s what the developer preferred, instead of what you preferred.

The good news is that once you switch the editor to the classic Markdown mode, that choice sticks for subsequent editor windows and sessions.

And the WYSIWYG editor not being able to accept pasted text would be a bug, but I haven’t seen it mentioned in the Discourse forums.
