So, the doctor says I got ulnar nerve entrapment, which means an important nerve in my arm is getting squeezed and damaged, and if that keeps going I’m gonna lose sensation and movement from my left hand.
Don’t worry though, it’s hurting like HECK so I reckon I haven’t lost any sensation yet lol
I can still make jokes with my right hand though, so it’s business as usual on the forums.
And I know, I know, GD is not my diary.
But like, if you care, then I’m making this thread so you will know, and if you don’t care, just skip the thread. It’s win-win for everybody except Demon Hunters because they never win in my books lol
I hope you can get that sorted out soon and make a full recovery.
In the meantime, is there any advice for the rest of us on how to potentially avoid the condition? I looked it up and it said that this happens to cyclists sometimes.
Have you been cycling a lot?
Or is this another case of one playing too much ahem “solo shuffle”…
I feel your pain, fairly literally. My right hand is very painful atm; it doesnt seem to be carpal tunnel but we haven’t a final conclusion on what it is. Other than it hurts like hell and my days are spent munching on pain killers.
It’s made a serious dent in anything that requires the use of a keyboard/mouse. Like gaming.
Actually, I enjoy reading these “guys, I got something to share” personal-style posts… it’s kinda refreshing compared to all the game-related “fluff” threads cluttering up the front-page of GD
Bleh, very sorry to hear you’re under the weather OP. Our bodies revolt and do weird things. Nerve entrapment is one of the more annoying ones. Electroneuromyography is a kind of mapping they do to see what’s going on. They’ll put patches on your skin, stimulate the muscles and the readings will come back where the muscles are showing weakness or abnormal response. It’s a pretty simple procedure, I’m surprised they have it booked out so far. But then again, the medical field is still bleeding people from post pandemic burn out, so even the basic care is hard to come by.
Hopefully they’ll get your problem area pin pointed and be able to fix you up with a series of steroid shots and you’ll be right as rain.
Wishing you a calm and non-labor intensive 20 days while you wait for the test and however long it takes you to get back to your doc for results and further treatment.
Sorry about that. I’m beginning to think how I may have dodged this when only my left wrist makes contact on the laptop. The rest of my left arm hangs down freely. I sit in a chair of some very low armrests.
