Hail and Well met!
TLDR: I am dying, and I am a Warcraft veteran. I love the IP and the game and wish it to continue beyond my life span and my small wish list is below of what I hope to see before I die.
Yep as the summary above states I am dying and also a Warcraft veteran of sorts. No, I do not have numerous Ahead of the Curve or the great Long Boi mount, but I am a denizen of Azeroth like the rest of you.
I was diagnosed with cancer in 2021 in the middle of June. My condition is stable but the doctor hasnât given me a life expectancy. The current stage of the cancer is stage four lung cancer and itâs a matter of time. However, I am giving it the biggest fight of its life and wish to continue enjoying my hobbies and the communities that come with it. Hence why I am making this article a âWISH LISTâ.
I, also, write this forum post, not in the need to give dire criticism, the need for sympathy for my condition, or handouts. No, I write this as a thank you to the WoW devs for the many years of content that has kept me going for such a long time.
I first entered the Warcraft world with Warcraft 2: Beyond the Dark Portal and still quote the peons and peasants every day. Later Warcraft 3 and its expansion gave me a solid love for the sword and sorcery genre it was attempting to emulate but still keep itself grounded in a high fantasy setting. Then comes the elephant in the room, World of Warcraft. I started that journey near the end of its open beta. My main memory was attempting to down a Gigachad Infernal in the middle of the Trade District of Stormwind. However we flash forward and Iâve divorced WoW, came back, divorced it again, and flash forward to my flower-picking Dragon - and I am still having fun.
That being said, let us get down to the meat and potatoes of the matter:
Content.
Dragonflight as an expansion is good, itâs not perfect but it is good. It has some great potential for the future and is optimistic beyond the copiumn. That being said, my cognitive abilities keep me from pushing too high in Mythic Plus Keys or even Raiding. However, I am enjoying the profession revamp and just exploring the daily content of modern WoW. Itâs a far cry from Legionâs ALWAYS PLAYING to progress my character or even the drought of Shadowlands. However, I feel it is going to get better before Dragonflightâs end.
First up is Races I would like to see playable:
Centaur - seeing these guys in Dragonflight is awesome, I would love to make a hunter or shaman in the style of these nomadic storytellers. However, I understand the logistics of making a character who basically has a built-in mount. Not only that how do they do Dragonriding? How do they wear armor? What Faction best represents them? The List goes on, however, they are still one of my favorites from the new content.
Drakanoid - this one might be the easiest due to the numerous modules around Valdrakken and the rest of the Isle. It would give the opposite of the Dracthyr and give us melee dragon-bois. I would love to make a Warrior or Paladin of this race to be that looming bulk of scales and furry against my foes in Alterac or in open world pvp. However, the problem I see with this one is that we might be getting a tank spec for Dracthyr in a future update in Dragonflight due to all of the Deathwing/Neltherion information that keeps cropping up on the PTR. If that happens it makes this option null and void and gives me a melee dragon option.
However, classes for this race are limited as I can not see them having anything different than that of Tauren and or Draenie due to their lore and lack of being exposed to things like Fel energies or Death magic excluding Warlocks, Demon Hunters, and Death Knights.
To clarify, this is the bipedal Drakanoids and not the quadrupedal Drakanoids.
Tuskar - this one might actually happen. This has been on every sweaty neckbeards list since Wrath of the Lich King. These guys are awesome, their culture is quaint and their community is vivid. It feels like it should be a playable race among the Tauren or even that of the Dwarves and Pandarian. I could see this as an allied race that is neutral to both factions in the future.
Ogre - this one is fun and a bit of a joke but I would love to make an Ogre Magi from old Warcraft and run around as this big ol oaf. They are large and if they were the same size as the largest current playable race then I can see it is easy to integrate them but I highly doubt we will get these guys ever.
Classes
Tinker - let us get it on the table out and in the open. This should have been content during Mechagon. It was prime time to give a Tinker class to explore the rich history of the Gnomes and Goblins or even other races that tinker around like Draenie.
However, this one could easily have three specs a tank that is an armored Hulk-buster, a healer like a chemical sprayer, and a DPS that could use pets or use a ton of explosives and other gadgets to get the job done.
However, as they have expressed a class or race needs to make sense to integrate into the modern game.
Now the next bit is just Races that I would like to see have access to current classes.
Example: Night Elf Paladins.
I do not remember her name, but I do remember the quest through the Paladin Order Hall to rescue a priestess of elune and then her eventually converting to a Paladin in the end. I feel it could be an easy adjustment versus an Orc Paladin but now we have Orc priests so? It might be a matter of when?
Demon Hunters for Orcs and Draenie are the last class options Iâd like to see due to their time on Outland and the exposure to demonic magics. I feel itâs a stretch to make them new initiates into the Illidari but after reading Illidan and how one becomes a Demon Hunter itâs a trip. But Iâd love to see Orcs and Draenie as Demon Hunters.
Last but not least I would love to see a combination of things that could be either glyphs or a whole new cosmetic system that would complement Transmog.
This best is shown from an old Reddit thread about Class Skins.
I love this idea.
Iâd love to make a Void Elf warrior and have them have void contrails or void eruptions as they do their abilities. Paladins are the easiest example of different types that exist besides the normal Light wielders - look at the Prelates for Zandalar, the Sunwalker Taurens, the Blood Elf Blood Knights, and the list goes on. They each could have some twist to their abilities to show that difference and give them just that much more immersion.
However, I understand the time and effort of this system would take a bit or more. Not only to mention that the problem then is attempting to identify what you are playing with and playing against unless looking at Raid Plates or outright banning the systems from PVP.
Other than that, if you have made it this far then you are awesome. I would love a WoW2 eventually something that really upgrades the game into a modern contender for other AAA titles.
Pipe dream I know.
Anyways, thank you loves for your time and your energy.
If you ever need someone to play with while I have the time, I am on Bleeding Hollow or Kelâthuzard.
My your hearthstoneâs never break and see you in Azeroth.
