Got the chance to run Scarlet Enclave for the 1st time last night and I loved it honestly, couple wipes but wasn’t anything that couldn’t be fixed in the next pull. Despite the buffs to players and nerfs to bosses, it still felt engaging and had some challenge to it. Was also nice to walk out with 3 tier pieces and get 5/8 for my Tier bonus
That’s great you had a great time as I did. But it’s also the reason why it doesn’t make sense for Blizzard to make a Classic+ with new unrecycled content. The players definition of “challenge” is just way too low.
The challenge doesn’t need to be the baseline raid difficulty. Players who want a challenge speed run. That’s how classic has been since 2019
To further that, they have the option of using world buffs, as well. Some people just refuse to take agency of their own gameplay. It’s insanely bizarre.
If only new end game is your focus … “classic+” will fail.
Most of the new content needs to be leveling content
Yeah I’m hoping with classic plus there will be HM kinda like naxx(without a sanc system) where people can decide how hard they want their raid to be
Speed run as a challenge? Dumbest take ever.
I honestly think if blizzard released SE in its current difficulty from the get go, SE would have been far more popular
Monetarily think about it like this. Dev teams spends months on a new raid. Player base destroys it in 2 weeks gets bored in 4, and clamors for more. We also don’t like RMT. How is it possible to make any money on a game like that. Feeling like a special snowflake is a large part of why people play in other online games - of any genre. It provides a carrot on a stick and keep people playing. As a player base, we want everyone to get a trophy. There’s just no way catering to a crowd like this.
imo, Classic+ if it’s done will be a failure by many Classic and SoD players.
If Classic plus does come out, my take is that it won’t be catered to “dads”. If i were to venture a guess it’d be retail lite. SoD was a very every gets a trophy type of game. Fact is, most online games these days have carrots on a stick that people chase that will set them apart from others to keep them playing. Feeling like a “special snowflake” and “flexing” on people is a part of it.
Classic and SoD players have this weird inferiority complex over it lol. Kids on MMORPGs on Roblox are more ok with it than we are.
That exists without having hard modes, already. Players just refuse to use the options. If you want a harder experience, don’t use world buffs. It requires no extra developer time trying to tune anything or establishing separate loot, mob abilities, or health.
Due to this fact, it’s clear that those players who want hard modes don’t actually want hard modes, they want to gatekeep.
Just as bizarre is people who say that, are the same ones who complain they need to take 30+ to SE. You can always take more. Sure, you can always say that finding more people is more than they bargained for, but same goes for the other extreme. We’ve run 20m for all of SoD at the hardest modes. Do you know how hard it is to find people who actually want to do that? Our 20+ man raids never had a problem finding pugs. Once 1 of our core 20 for our 20 only raid can’t make it, it was almost impossible to find a PuG willing to “prog”.
Too hard? Find more people. Problem solved. It’s easier for people like that than those who want it purposely “harder”.
Lol ok this is what the best players already do without even having incentives for it other than competition. There is no other way to make farming raids over a period of time fresh each reset. Prog is over when the raid is cleared the first time and speed goes on until the raid is cleared PERFECTLY by in the fastest possible way
The formula vanilla used to extend the life of content without inflating the difficulty: Give every boss a massive loot table and the highly desirable items have a low drop rate.
Ditch badges/reals/tokens and let RNGzus take the wheel.
