My Ideal Arena Mode

Arena Purist Mode (name subject to change)

Overview:

Arena Purist Mode is a competitive PvP game mode in World of Warcraft designed to emphasize raw player skill and strategy. This mode removes the reliance on addons and hero classes, offering a pure, balanced experience where each player’s knowledge, reflexes, and coordination are put to the test.

Key Features:

1.	No Addons Allowed:
•	All UI addons are disabled. Players must rely on the default user interface provided by Blizzard. This ensures a level playing field where no external modifications can offer an advantage.

2.	No Hero Classes:
•	Death Knights, Demon Hunters, Monks, and Evokers are not allowed. This ensures that the game mode focuses on the original classes, each of which has been "meticulously balanced" over the years.

3.	Class Lock-In:
•	At the beginning of each season, players must choose a single class to compete with for the entirety of the season. This decision is locked in and cannot be changed until the next season. This encourages mastery and deep understanding of one class.

4.	Balanced Team Composition:
•	Teams are composed of 3 players, each from a different class. This restriction prevents stacking and promotes diverse team compositions.

5.	Seasonal Rewards:
•	Unique rewards are available each season, such as mounts, titles, and cosmetic items, to incentivize participation and achievement. These rewards are exclusive to Arena Purist Mode.

6.	Skill-Based Matchmaking:
•	The matchmaking system prioritizes skill-based rankings, ensuring that players are matched with opponents of similar skill levels for fair and challenging matches.

7.	Spectator Mode:
•	To promote community engagement and learning, a spectator mode is available where players can watch live matches of top-tier games. This feature also includes commentary from seasoned PvP players.

8.	Leaderboard:
•	A separate leaderboard for Arena Purist Mode tracks individual and team performance, providing recognition for the top players and teams each season.

Game Mode Rules:

1.	Class Selection:
•	Players choose one class at the start of the season. This choice is permanent for the duration of the season.

2.	Match Structure:
•	Matches are 3v3, best of five rounds. Each round starts with a clean slate, and the first team to win three rounds wins the match.

3.	Gear Normalization:
•	To ensure fairness, all players’ gear is normalized to a predetermined item level. Enchants and gems are also standardized.

4.	No External Buffs:
•	Only self-buffs and party buffs are allowed. No external buffs (e.g., world buffs, consumables) can be used.

5.	Cooldown Management:
•	Cooldowns reset between rounds to maintain the pace and excitement of each round.

Additional Features and Enhancements

1.	Dynamic Seasonal Themes:
•	Each season can have a unique theme that affects the arena environment and possibly introduces minor, temporary changes to gameplay. For example, a “Winter” theme could have icy patches in the arena that slow players down, or a “Jungle” theme could have periodic visibility-reducing fog.

2.	Class-Specific Challenges:
•	Include challenges and achievements that are specific to each class. Completing these can reward players with titles, mounts, or cosmetic items. This encourages players to deeply explore their chosen class.

4.	In-Game Tutorials and Guides:
•	Provide in-game resources such as tutorials, guides, and tips specific to Arena Purist Mode. These can help new players get up to speed and improve their skills.

5.	Role-Specific Leaderboards:
•	In addition to overall rankings, have separate leaderboards for DPS, Healers, and Tanks. This gives recognition to top players in each role.

6.	Spectator Betting System:
•	Allow spectators to place in-game currency bets on matches. This adds an interactive element for viewers and increases engagement.

7.	Team and Solo Queue Options:
•	Provide both team-based and solo queue options. Solo queue can match individuals into teams, allowing players without regular partners to participate and climb the rankings.

8. Player Mentorship Program:
•	Create a system where experienced players can mentor newcomers. Mentors receive rewards for helping new players improve, fostering a supportive community.

9.	Arena Practice Mode:
•	Introduce a practice mode where players can hone their skills against AI-controlled opponents or in custom matches with friends. This can be particularly useful for learning new classes or strategies.

10. Player-Driven Content:
•	Allow players to submit and vote on new seasonal themes, rules, or arena maps. This can keep the content fresh and aligned with player interests.

11. Enhanced Matchmaking Algorithms:
•	Continuously improve the matchmaking algorithms to consider more factors such as class synergy, recent performance, and role distribution. This ensures fairer and more competitive matches.

Tbh any spec can feel like a hero class depending on Blizzards mood for that patch.

Rogue has felt like that since BfA. Stupidly powerful and always has one W key spec.

Just for you Mr.Robbo

No add-ons arenas. PLEASE.

I’ve always strongly disliked when one spec feels like a tank and its throwing to target it.

That applies to any DPS specs but rogue always stand out when its them. I don’t miss BFA DH/DK fighting for 30 seconds after their team dies either and needing 50% dampen to actually target and kill them.

Yeah and tank trinkets making it feel even worse.

Or BfA Destro.

Triune ward mage.

Outlaw rogue.

Etc.

People blame hero class but it’s just random design philosophy from blizzard that makes stuff genuinely unfun.

Can you put it back? Monks are literally the worse class ever invented. And don’t even get me started on the type of people that main monks.

Lowkey since wod tbh. Removing combo points from target was the catalyst.

Looks awful. Only thing I can get behind on is no addons.

Alt hopping ruins the game.

Playing the same thing gets boring.

I figured you were immune to that sensation at this point.

Man if playing the same things gets boring for you, how did paying others to play your character(s) for you make you feel?

Idk man, playing with you in a shuffle makes me think that you might not know what you’re saying. Like you died to me and you didn’t even try to live when you could have. Your spec is essentially ranged, you didn’t even need to be in melee.

Should try prot, you have plenty of xp from playing that in slands.

You mean the lobby you went 1-5 in?
