Not gonna happen (duh) but a man can DREAM.
This post does not contain info on new features involving main game, just a general storyline of events leading to the beginning of the expac
I shared this concept with some people in-game and they seemed to like it, so im gonna post the general idea, but this does not contain info on the patches that explain the entire thing, its the prelude and the history leading up to the expac. It also contains a basic summary of the zones I had in my head
(If you want to add to it and express opinions, feel free too! Just dont be a jerk about it.)
An ancient race has emerged from the depths of the world. Within the Badlands, the Lethor Ravine has fallen, and hundreds of Pig-snout Lizard men have invaded the surface! Led by Terik the High Prophet, and the chieftains of the clans, the “Askorian” have come to lure those into the Zeranak caverns, and reforge their empire’s legacy, and awaken their god…
Experience ancient races, a grand underground continent, and fight back against the Askorian empire of the Imperion…
HISTORY OF THE INVADERS
THOUSANDS OF YEARS AGO, a Great Worm dwelled within the deep rocky depths of Azeroth. It is known as Zerranak by the Askorian priests and shamans. No one knows what it truly is, it could have been a creation of the Old Gods, or a mere Loa, either way, it was powerful. But then, the Well of Eternity imploded due to the war on the surface, and a large stalagmite fell upon Zerranak. In great pain, he burrowed deeper into the world, and. buried himself, resting from his wound…
But strangely, his blood created life and fauna. The caverns became full of life, Great crystals emanated light, and creatures were born. And then the sophisticated races were created with one race coming into contact with more of the blood. The Askorian, the Eagrak, the Axol and the Ornikar were born from the blood.
RISE OF THE EAGRAK.
Though born from Zerranaks blood, the Eagrak believed in Sunneron, the great Eagle. And they discovered the powers of the Arcane, mastering it. Using it, they carved a mighty city from a great mountain they deemed “The Wailing City” due to the wailing sounds their flying makes. For centuries they ruled the land, seeing the Askorian little more as pests, and the Axol as fine slaves, often raiding their towns for their eggs to birth slaves. The Eagraks empire was vast, stalagmites became towns and roosts, and arcane crystals lit the way to Eagrak cities, it was marvelous to them… But a threat arose…
THE WAR OF THE SWARM
The Ornikar were composed of many insectoid-like species. Much like the Silithid, however, the unique species of them are the rarely born Primus and their vicious wasp-like humanoids of the Swarmkar. During the reign of the Eagrak, a Primus was birthed, and it united all the hives within the Hivelands, and set off to destroy the Eagrak and feast upon their arcane magics. The Primus was known as Primus Corro, and it wreaked havoc on the Empire. But the Eagrak held them off, though thousands of Eagrak died, they pushed them back to the Hivelands, and slayed Corro. It showed that they prevailed even against the strongest of foes, but they would have never expected to be usurped by the lesser race of the Askorian…
RISE OF THE ASKOR
The Askorian race was composed of many disunited tribes and the ones that were the strongest were deemed Clans. They often warred with each other and made trade with free Axol. But the Clan that helped unite them was the Zerak Clan, which established the religion of the Great Worm. They worshiped the worm Zerranak who had created the caverns and them. Another organization, known as the Elemental Conclave, further united the clans and taught them the ways of shamanism and speaking to the Elements. They established 4 temples dedicated to each element. This period was known as “The great awakening”, where the clans and tribes started to unite in harmony. And then, they saw the Eagrak society, who twisted the elements and used Arcane to abuse the lesser races. They were seen as untrustworthy devils to both the Askor and Axols. But they would not go to war with them, not until something drastic happened… And then it did.
Within the Wailing Spires housed the Temple of Air, and it was a grand temple. And it houses a grand elemental known as a Elemental Duke, who each resided in the 4 temples, and the duke of air was deemed Airithon. And the Eagrak sensed his power, and they craved it. Wanting to use him to control the airways of the caverns. And they attacked and slaughtered dozens of peaceful Askorian monk, and used their dark shaman to twist Airrion, and it resulted in the temple imploded with toxic air, and the Eagrak that survived the blast reside within the ruins of the temple, selfishly protecting themselves as they try to contain Airrion. Generation to generation. And this broke the camel’s back, resulting in the doom of the Eagraks reign.
OSH’GORS ASCENSION
The Askorian were angered, and each clan and tribe prepped for war, but they needed a leader. They bickered endlessly on who would lead, petty infighting insued. But a leader would arise, a lone acolyte of the Zerak Clan, Osh’Gor. He had been on a journey as he had a vision of Zerranaks last vial of blood. And it would be destined for him to cleanse the Eagrak and save the Askorian people from the demons. For months, he searched for it, and then, he found it upon a great stalagmite, said to be the one that wounded Zerranak. A sacred vile was found, guarded by elementals, as they felt as if it could increase their power. With a heavy heart, Osh’Gor was forced to send them back to their planes of existence. And he drank the vial. He… Changed. He became a demi-god, he had great power over the Elements, and with a naturally gifted mind in strategy and leading, he viewed it as his destiny to lead his people. When he returned to his people, they kneeled in his might. With all the clans and tribes under him, he deemed the formation of an empire, the Imperion, and it was their destiny to destroy the Eagrak, and so, the war began…
WAR OF FATES
With the Imperion formed, Osh’Gor organized the Imperion military, picking the Chieftain of the powerful Searing Hammer Clan as its High Legate. With an army of Askorian legionnaires, he assaulted multiple footholds in deemed Askorian land, and won. Though the Eagrak had powers in the Arcane, their arrogance was their downfall, Osh’Gor slaughtered every man, woman and child of the Eagrak. With these victories seen, and eager to free their brothers, the Axol tribes swore loyalty to Osh’Gors Imperion. Together, the forces liberated several Askorain and Axol slaves, and interestingly, they were able to tame the Tempest Beetles, which were more independent creatures of the Ornikar, and also had discovered the power of a metal plentiful in the caverns, Orninite. Orninite could be infused with the elements, and so could the Tempest Beetles, with this knowledge, the first Tempest Riders were created, and wreaked havoc on Eagrak holdings. And they pushed the Eagrak all the way back to their city, before putting the war on hold. As Osh’Gor thought the Eagrak would never prove to be a threat again, and he moved his forces back into Askorian lands
THE IMPERION DOMAIN
Osh’Gor, with the help of the Axol, established a golden age for the Askorian race. He built the city of Corzor, which was beautifully crafted. To preserve all of Askorian history, Osh’Gor established a grand library installation, and also crafted the Searing Citadel in the Searing Hammers homeland of the Burning Bowls, and turned the vicious fiery giants of the Burnak into willing warbringers. With the Askorians future bright, another Swarm led by Primus Archonok attacked the Askorian Empire, but the swarm was crushed in 2 months, whilst it took 2 years for the Eagraks Swarm War to end.
With the future of his people seemingly secured, Osh’Gor named the caverns Zerak, and began construction of a grand palace. But this palace had a function kept secret from the public until it was completed, it was to use the power of 4 massive infused Orninite crystals of each element to awaken the Great Worm, Osh’Gor believed it would allow his people to ascend to the heavens. When the palace was completed, he announced it to his people, and they cheered. But the Eagrak found out, and now was their final chance to end Osh’Gors reign.
OSH’GORS FALL
As new leader of the Eagrak, High Sage Varik led a strike force of his strongest into the palace, they faced unspeakable odds as they had cut through dozens of Royal Guards, but eventually, they reached Osh’Gors chamber, and a long battle ensued.
But finally, with a power combination of the mages, the Sage slew Osh’Gor, but strangely… His soul remanded in the cavern, binded and powerful. The Eagrak realized they couldn’t destroy Osh’Gors essence, and thus, built a prison below their city where his soul would remain.
They had also realized that in their state, they could never defeat the Imperion, they were too big and well led, so they opted to return to their home of the Wailing Spires, and rebuild…
For centuries after the Askor clans formed a council, they could never decide on who would be the next Emperor, Osh’Gors legacy was too much to carry. And so, they would meet every year in order to decide on what to do with themselves, but eventually, thousands of years later, an answer came…
RISE OF TERIK
3000+ years later, the clans and Imperion still remained And so did the Eagrak, who reclaimed several areas of the Wailing Spires. But a new leader was to arise for the Askorian to follow. An acolyte of the Zerra CLan, Terik, saw a vision, a world far above that could be used to lure races above so the Eagrak in their arrogance would attack them, and something long lost to the Askorian could be claimed, Osh’Gors essence. And so, Terik shared his vision to the clans. Deeming the Searing Hammers new chieftain as the new High Legate, he activated the Searing Hammers forges, and united the clans. The Tech Skull clan, formed by Askorian engineers during Osh’Gors reign, gave technology to allow a scouting force to scout the lands above. The Bloodgorge Clan in particular were sent as scouts, and when the device reached its destination, they found themselves in the badlands; approximately 80 scouts were sent, who scrambled across the region. They wrote about strange figures called Humans, Orcs, etc. And they proceeded to kidnap humans in the night and steal any maps they had. Before sending them home. Rumor quickly spreaded about the strange lizard-pig men. But these were dismissed as ramblings from insane people. When the scouts returned to the caverns, it was deemed that the Badlands would be the site of the “invasion”, and on in the area the drills were sent above, a massive device was built that harnessed the power of the elements and it would shatter the crust above, allowing legions of the Askor to stage a fake invasion. Terik’s plan was set in motion, now the Emperor’s return was at hand…
INVASION: CURRENT EVENTS
It was loud and sudden, the Askorian legions shattered the crust in the Lethor Ravine, and Fuselight fortified quickly. Legions of these Askorian spread out across the land, reports were sent to the Horde and Alliance by their footholds there, fearing the invasion, they scrambled to quickly launch a counter-attack, which unknowingly, was what Terik wanted. But Terik also ordered footholds in the lower eastern kingdoms, The Bloodgorge Clan were reportedly seen traversing the jungles of Stranglethorn and attacking patrols from Grom’Gol base camp. And the Askorian sacked the now Alliance-affiliated Angor Fortress.
Though Grimaxe was a viable option to lead the counter-attack, a new Horde commander was gaining promise, General Gor’Gosh was a brilliant tactician who crushed Quilboar and Centaur raids and attacks with ease, and was appointed as High Warlord of the Hordes expedition into the caverns, Gor’Gosh was eager to prove himself to the Horde, and amassed an army of Orcs, Trolls, Tauren and Goblins, although some Blood Elves and Forsaken accompanied him. (Along with the other races in the Horde, such as Vulpera)
The alliance sent Grand Marshal Tremblade, a veteran of previous wars, into the caverns as its expedition lead. However, Tremblade was given secret orders by SI:7 lead Mathias Shaw to undermine the Hordes’ efforts into the caverns so they couldn’t gain control of the cavern’s resources for themselves.
But nevertheless, both sides must stand against the Askorian tide of war, thus beginning the effort to stop the Fury of Below…
NEW CONTINENT: ZERNAK CAVERNS: Massive underground continent
ZONES:
Shattered Front: Where the Askorians activated the device to invade the surface, the Horde and Alliance established footholds in the region after launching the expedition. Multiple Askorian footholds can be found here and so can the Temple of Earth.
Crimson Forest: A combination of red trees and mushrooms, this is the homeland of the Axol and a deemed holy ground to the Askorian. The temple of water can be found here as well as the Bloodgorge Pinnacle.
Zerranak Plains: A large open field of dark green grass, the plains are beautiful and sacred. The great Temple of the Great Worm can be found, home to the holy Zerra clan and its priests. Terik rules this temple as High Prophet, but it won’t be so easy to besiege…
Burning Bowls: Home of the Searing Hammer Clan, most of the area has been turned into the Searing Citadel. Its core is the mighty Searing Hold, where the High Legate Gernerok, Chieftain of the Searing Hammer, lies. It is also home to the menacing Burnak fire giants. The Temple of Fire also lies here.
Wailing Spires
A land of stalagmites and home of the Eagrak and Askorian Tempest Stormers clan, the Wailing City lies here, home of the Eagrak, and the ruins of the Temple of Air. The Tempest Beetles independent of the Ornikar lie within the spires.
Hivelands
The Orinkar hives lie here. And a new Primus has been birthed, but strangely, he was able to create lesser Primus to serve him, and has prepared a swarm to end all swarms. The Hives here put the Silithid hives to shame.
Corzor
City of the Askorian Race and capital. Its glorious buildings put Silvermoon and Dazar’Alor to shame. The Clans often meet in the Governor’s Sanctum of the city. Its gates will open when the Siege of the Searing Citadel begins. The Isle of Secrets also lies there, where the Library rests.
The Palace of Destiny
Osh’Gors seat of power. Its mighty walls and defenses shall hold off against nearly any attack. And here lies the device that could shatter the world itself. But only Osh’Gor could activate it, but when the time comes… It will be unleashed once again…
Thats all I have rn! Coming up with the events for later on in the conceptual expac will probably be posted very very VERY soon. (If I feel like it no promises) Some ideas I have for more gameplay-oriented stuff could include:
Orninite can be mined and infused to give items special effects
Monthly PVP events that grant you points for monthly gear
3 raids and perhaps 2 mega dungeons (One mega at launch and then next major patch)
Non-main story related Time Visions, which allow players to see events of Warcraft past (Scouring of the Shadow Council, Ner’Zhul becoming the Lich King, etc.)
Thats the ideas I have rn, hope yall have a year! And ty for reading, even if you dont like the concept!
