I feel good coming back to WoW; I was having a little discussion over on Reddit and I felt it had a place here as well:
Despite feeling underpowered in some regards, as a Hunter, nothing beats being able to do a bit of everything.
-
Ranged damage (always an advantage in battlegrounds) EDIT: in general any content
-
Melee damage if I’m feeling like it. Not the best sometimes, but I do like having the option.
-
Stealth + Ninja capping nodes, to avoid ganks or to escape camping in battlegrounds when your side is losing and the enemy team is waiting in front of graveyards. EDIT: also to skip content
-
Great soloing for world content (and even some dungeon content). For example I could solo 3 dragons from the anniversary event last week. It’s not an amazing feat but it’s nice to always think “I don’t need to wait for a tank”.
-
Some self-healing (it is kinda garbage right now compared to what we used to have, but still some). Goes hand in hand with the great soloing ability we have.
-
People pick on/focus you because hunters are usually easy to shut down, but with enough skill, you only make them lose time with amazing kiting (which got very good improvements with Dragonflight)
-
Pets for days
-
The sound effect of Kill Shot never gets old
-
Sniper shot = easy killing blows in PvP
-
Amazing mobility (I hate wheelchair classes like Paladin or DK)
Edit: did I mention we also bring Bloodlust to parties? Some people forget about that!
Hunters might be low tier for some, but I feel in a confortable “middle of the pack”, which sometimes is a good thing.
The only other class that can do almost all of that at the same time is Druid, but Druids don’t use bows and that’s a very nice class fantasy you can’t get anywhere else for now.
