My healers' new best friend come 10.2.5

I plan on brushing up on healer skills when Delves are brought into the game. I used to 2 box raids back in EQ with a wizzy and a shaman and did quite well running those roles at the same time, however, I am lacking the confidence of youth I used to have, and have anxiety thinking about healing in hard content in this game for some reason!

Not the same beast. Used to 3 box by alt tabbing and it was easy. Not a chance I’d try this on WoW lol

Land the slow/malo on Shaman, switch to Wizard and go OOM and/or dead blowing up the boss, back to Shaman to reapply slow/malo.

Good times.

All they needed to do was make tanks not completely invincible and capable of aggroing 500000 mobs at once.

Tanks. If you aggro that many mobs, then you live and everyone else dies, its not because you’re good. Its because the game holds your hand to make sure your role is stupidly easy at the expense of everyone else in your group.

Tanks all act like they are some sort of superior babysitter, when exactly the opposite is true. They’re like a toddler running through the store while their parents are chasing them down trying to get them to stop.

Welp, I have lined up 20 characters to go from 60 (61 in some cases) to 70 via follower dungeons once the patch hits, and I have 17 more, including many of my healers and glass cannons, ready to slowly herb and mine their way from 50-60 over the coming months!

If follower dungeons land, if they hit and go at the “3 runs per level” pace I tested on the PTR, this is my life for the rest of the expansion, and it’ll be blissful! If TWW launches with follower dungeons on normal mode, that life will continue through leveling and then to delves!

I ran a few timewalking runs this past week to help set up this lineup of 20 characters and… like… I just do not agree with the community’s current way of doing dungeons now. That’s ok, I was DPSing most of the time and just trying to stay alive, but I didn’t feel I learned my classes or immersed in their fantasies during this breakneck “gameplay.” I expect to spec and respec and feel out talent builds mid-follower dungeon, I expect to enjoy like… actually completing my rotation at least once per trash pull, and while other folks don’t want to go that slow in dungeons, I will enjoy the slower pace of… you know… actually running dungeons!

I spent two years in FFXIV leveling my various jobs on one character largely via the NPC dungeon group systems they have in that game, and I always said “if WoW’s dungeons ever get a system like this, I’m going back,” and, well… here I am!

I’m so excited!

Never could get behind this mindset.

Having a separate reward track than what players pushing harder content are on does not somehow make their time less worthwhile. They just need to focus on the reward track they’re comfortable working on instead of looking 2 tracks up and complaining that they’re not also getting that.

Maybe if there was more of an actual path in that regard instead of catch up content jumping into the middle of it (thereby shortening the progression path), it’d feel less bad for players who live at lower levels of content, idk.

That said, how are Delves? Solo-accessible content with AI that can reward up to Heroic ilvl doesn’t mean much until I know how it’s tuned. Horrific Visions or whatever could be fairly challenging with the Masks or whatever on, and if it’s more akin to that and has a weekly lockout rather than being spammable for the Heroic loot like M+, then it’s nothing crazy.

I’d like to see them go Heroic with them. It would give me more to do in the earlier part of the expansion.

The AI has probably already been tested in live content without anyone realizing it… as that would be the perfect way to test it.

I’m excited for this to go live. I don’t do any group content because I am really, really, terrible. Old, keyboard turning, etc, mouse click to target bad. This will let me do dungeon quests when they’re current versus waiting 2 expansions.

I’d be fine with it not dropping gear , for the record, or some open-world level. The flightstones upgrade structure has been a big win for players like me, I hope it sticks around.

If they start giving heroic level raid gear out for solo play no one would raid

Welp, that’s literally the stated intent of Delves: PVE instanced content for 1-5 players that does indeed cap out at heroic raid loot level rewards.

To be quite honest, if that kills raiding (it won’t) then raiding needs to die, because what you imply is that people will take any out on their own time to not raid. That means the raid group is full of people that don’t want to be there. That means they shouldn’t be there.

I’m sure there are people that will still raid for the love of raiding. Those are, after all, the only people that should do any content: The ones that want to be there.

Than it needs to be as difficult as heroic raiding. That’s all I’m griping about. M+ is at least on par with the difficulty that heroic raiding (sometimes) has. If all delves are gonna be is a “welfare heroic loot for everyone” I would ever set foot into a heroic raid after getting aotc again

They will probably make the heroic level gear either legitimately hard to get or easy but time-gated in some way (so that you remain behind raiders until the patch cycle nears the end).

There is also the possibility that they do something to make the gear sub-optimal for raiders… like possibly including bonuses that do not work in raids.

One way or another, I doubt it will be as straight up “free heroic raid gear” as it sounds.

Honestly, I’m not sure how good tanking practice this will be. Normal dungeons just don’t do that much damage, so you won’t get that good a sense of what’s actually dangerous.

Every time I’ve picked up a tank alt, I just get a key, and blast it up until I hit a wall.

Well since it has been amended that there is no gear from this only pet charms and tender it should not cause any issues with regular groups.

Um… I hate to be that guy, but… where did you hear that? Last info I saw follower dungeon doesn’t drop loot every time, but does drop loot apparently.

I mean I’m going in with full heirlooms so I’m not concerned really, but like… “no loot” is news to me.

Glad you’re looking forward to being able to play the game the way you want

I do believe time gating will be involved, but again… if you’re “ambitious ™”, Heroic raid loot is arguably “below you,” or at the very most a stepping stone rolled over on the way to (big air quotes here) ““real loot™.”” For Delves to cap out at heroic raid level loot, that’s not loot that “ambitious ™” players will care about. And yet, for those who otherwise wouldn’t see that high gear level mucking around in the open world, it’s a big enticement to play the weekly vault game.

Why? No really, legit question, why? Time is time, and time is limited. Ambitious ™ players won’t set their endgame at heroic loot, so heroic loot level content isn’t endgame, and if non-ambitious™ players can set their “lower than endgame” loot goals at heroic raids themselves, why can’t a separate set of non-ambitious™ players set their goals at delves? If one is heroic raiding and stopping there, they’re already accepting that they’re not ambitious™, and neither is the delve player.

Delves will be role agnostic with a single programmed-to-taste NPC companion. That means that a single fire mage will tackle the same content as a group of guardian druids, likely with the only variables being for number of players, likely represented in hitpoints and damage, or encounter density. That’s not ambitious and that can’t be “difficult,” but it is time spent. The heroic raid player is hanging out with nine or more friends, and the delve player is maybe playing alone. Being non-ambitious™ in WoW doesn’t have a skill requirement, and if one doesn’t like raiding, don’t. Indeed one should stop raiding if they’re only doing it because one feels they have to…

…Is what I’d be thinking if I designed this content, not aiming that sentiment at anyone in particular.

As for myself, I am probably going to be happy enough chasing the Heroic level Delves gear. It really does depend on how they decide to handle it though… and when I decide to enter the expansion will be determined by the Delves system.

I’ve already paid for the expansion but if they are going to drag out the acquisition of the gear to a long grind, then I will probably wait and enter the expansion after a couple of patches with catch up gear comes out.

If the grind is long but the actual time commitment is really quick (like 20 mins per week for a character), then I might enter the expansion on release and do the grind.

In theory, this expansion has everything that I want, with early access to classic flight, solo access to dungeons and access to decent gear… now I just have to hope it does not get butchered some time between the announcement and the implementation.

Oh I missed it. Is this on the PTR? That’s really cool.
