On Tuesday we only encountered that issue in Freehold, but now it seems it’s happening in a couple dungeons and it is impossible to use portals or even a hearthstone. We get 5 min loading screens that end up disconnecting the entire party then you have to wait another minute because trying to log in fails with “A character with that name already exists”. This is so frustrating and my game is basically unplayable because I can’t even use the portals to get anywhere.

There is another thread cataloging this issue currently. As of right now there do not appear to be any GM responses to the issue. Fingers crossed they are looking into it, at least.

It is happening everywhere , my friends and I have been trying to run a brackenhide 20 for the last hour and we can’t even get to the dungeon , the flight there lags us out, and then we fight loading screens and characters with our name already existing for 10 minutes over and over
Same thing is happening to me right now. Twenty minutes of endless login screen and constant “a character with that name already exists” errors. My two mains are both stuck in login limbo now.
Very much hope Blizzard is alerted to this soon

Happened to us in NL yesterday. Took forever to zone in, and when we did one person was weirdly not there. Said they were DCed, but they could chat … We abandoned party and I joined another. This time we zoned in fine, but I DCed halfway through and couldn’t log back in for a few minutes. Not great on a M+.
Then 75% through the last boss the tank DCed and never came back.
Sigh.

Just started having the same issue this morning on my Spriest, and my brother started having the issue after I did, hopefully this gets fixed soon, game is actually unplayable with this.
