I just got out of the Army in 2019. One of my fellow Soldiers is an author and wrote a trilogy, published by Harper. Back in 2017, he was invited to be one of those panel authors at New York Comic Con. It was his big break for exposure. Then the unexpected happened…hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria.
Our job in the Army was power generation and restoration. We were dispatched to Texas, then to the USVI. This overlapped his scheduled participation at the Comic Con event. He did let them know that he would not be able to attend. He was never invited to another Comic Con.
I haven’t seen him in two years. I wonder what new project he’s working on nowadays.
