My friend already wants to quit classic here’s his story

Here is some background. We both played wow hardcore through wrath. After that we played very little and currently not at all. We both resubed for the resent beta. It’s was mostly positive until the last day. We were on the same layer and the in chat people were saying the horde were attacking gold shire. We wanted in on this to defend the town and have some fun. Now we sort of understood layering and that you can jump if invited to another layer. We seen people in general asking for an invite to some streamers layer so we knew that must be the pvp layer. We started asking for invites. Nothing we were totally ignored. Finally after whispering some people I got an invite over but my buddy had already logged and decided to quit already. He kinda felt like layering is a good ol boy policy and if people know you you’ll experience everything and for the others they won’t get the full effect of he sever. I wanted to argue with him but it was a solid point. I’m still trying to talk him into playing but so far he just doesn’t want to. Mind you he was a great vanilla player and lots of fun. So I guess what I’m saying is can you give people a tool to pick their layer without an invite that maybe has a cool down? That or just forget layering it leaves too many people out of the loop? I mean if it effected my buddy how many others is it going to turn off? Just a thought.

Sounds like he’s making a mountain out of a molehill

I think it will be really bad the first couple weeks or so, but after that it won’t be so bad. I’m just going to wait and see personally.

Anyone willing to quit at the first sign of minor frustration during a stress test at the end of a beta season…before launch…

Was never going to make it to 60 with you, anyway.

Sounds like a brat.

Thank you for his sacrifice. That means another open slot for someone who doesn’t give a darn about temp layering.

Your “friend” doesn’t really seem like a friend at all if he has any negative things to say about classic.

You should move on and forge new friendships in game. Those will be your new true friends. Just make sure they can play 18+ hours a day or drop them as well.

He can just start when layering is gone. Will be removed after a few weeks or by phase 2 at the latest.

I think if your friend doesn’t understand what betas are used for, that bugs and features don’t always work as intended, there is little anyone can say to change his mind. Play classic and let him know how much fun you’re having. Maybe let him know when layering is done if that is his roadblock. Layering is temporary after all.

Quitting because is this one incident? Meh…

Didn’t read…they are not your friend if they want to quit playing Classic. Pretty simple

Or just tell him to start playing whenever they turn layering off. They have been very adamant that it’s not lasting in to phase 2 of content. Yeah he’d be behind the try hards, but it wouldn’t be that significant of an ordeal to catch up

Oh no.

What will we do now that your “friend” doesn’t want to play the first portion with layering?

Might as well scrap the whole project.

This post was more in hopes of a dev (either addon or blizz) reading it, not the drive by poster. Not that your opinion does not matter but you have no power in change I need someone with some power I guess. My thinking is if someone makes an addon that allows layer jumping or if blizzard makes a tool themselves it could give the servers more life and the person without many friends the chance to meet people.

tell the quitter to quit something else. that will be a fun convo lmao

Yeah. If he doesn’t want to play wow with you, he’s not a friend. Friends can’t do anything else - they’re only for playing video games!!!

Wow.

Is this the first “I quit” thread for classic?

It hasn’t even been released yet…

My goodness folks, Layering is not, and will not be there forever. People will quit due to not being able to handle it, so attached to Retail, or just got bored. It will be ok, honestly. However, if he already wants to quit, hope he is on Herrod, thats one less que I have to wait for.
