My first M+ went pretty well!

I got a quest to do a M+2 dungeon, and given a key for one. I neglected to do it and the key vanished (presumably at reset?). But I tried joining a few groups offering a +2 as a tank, and let them know I was new and I understood if they didn’t want me to join.

It took a bit, but a group finally pulled me in. I forget what the group makeup was, but the dungeon was the Meadery. I’d only done heroic, so the mechanics were completely unknown to me, as even Heroic is just tank+spank.

The group leader, who was one of the DPS, was super great. They pinged where I needed to go, they explained the mechanics pretty quickly, and even told the healer to chill when we wiped once to be bee boss. I should have read up on the mechanics or watched vids or something, so they were far more patient than they needed to be and I appreciated it a lot. They even complimented me on doing a decent job tanking.

We wiped once, and we ran out of time, but no one blamed me and said it was no problem when I apologized. All in all it was a good experience, and I had a lot of fun, and it really helped alleviate my fears and stress of giving M+ a try. I don’t expect to really push it, or be good enough to do even harder ones, but I do know just heroics wont be enough for me anymore lol.

Edit: Side note, I really enjoy Brewmaster, but am considering other classes. What do you think is the best tank for mythic? And also, what do you just find the most fun?

The things I enjoy about Brewmaster is the AOE feels good, and I also like being able to interrupt though I assume most if not all classes can do that, and I also like being able to toss out a quick heal with Vivify procs if I don’t need it for myself I can quickly mouseover cast it on someone else. It feels good to help save a party member from dying now and then. And I feel like I do decent DPS enough that I just stay tank spec for everything and don’t feel the need to switch to DPS for quests or delves.

Congrats this is the start of your M+ legend story :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Don’t have to be perfect, especially the very first one, but I do recommend watching dungeon videos by raider IO that explain the boss mechs concisely and well

Nicely done, you’re not going to time every run and especially as a tank there’s simply no substitute for firsthand experience. If you keep the good attitude and keep at it you’ll be 3k in no time.

DH, if played well. Monks get deleted pretty easily. Every other tank besides monk is pretty beefy.

Yeah, that’s what I read when I did some research afterwards about tanks in M+, it said Monks aren’t in a good spot right now. I do enjoy it though. But if Monks haven’t been buffed yet and we’re well into S2, I don’t expect them to any time soon I guess.

But I also don’t plan to try and push high M+ levels so, I’m torn.

Monk tanks need a redesign. They’re either gods of dmg mitigation or wearing cardboard armor.

Yeah that’s how I feel. A lot of the time I feel like I can keep up with my stagger pretty well. And then some fights just seem to pulverize me, and I honestly can’t tell if its me not playing my class well enough, or my class itself. And then, if I get stunned for any amount of time and can’t clear my stagger I’m toast.

Stay BrM then. They’re more than capable for what you want to accomplish

Even as brew, the biggest problem you would have getting up into 12s and 13s is getting into groups. They are objectively the weakest tank for M+, but are still fully capable of timing keys up to 3k io.

If you want to have a much easier time though, try something else. Prot pally is always good because it’s simple but has tons of utility so you always have an answer to everything, DH currently is the meta tank with great all around self sustain and damage, and warriors are also straightforward and do a lot of damage.

DK is a little harder to play well, and druid is extremely simple but kind of lackluster.

If you utilize their utility, Demon Hunter by far. If you want something straightforward and simple to survive, then Prot War or Guardian Druid. (You can even macro their defensives into your rotation if you want while learning)
