My first experience with M+ (2700 io Hunter)

This is my first season every playing mythic+ and my frame of reference is obviously altered because of this but I wanted to share some things that made M+ easier for me in my first season ever.

1st: Find btags to play with consistently:

  • I don’t think that this was the case according to videos I’ve seen, twitter and the forums. It sounds like pugging was relatively easy in past and not anymore? Having a consistent group made life easier and efficient.

2nd: Have a helpful UI

  • One of the biggest changes to my gameplay was when I learned about “plater”. This helped me see when important spells needed to be interrupted or certain targets need to be cc’d or killed.
  • Weakaura’s are included here. But it also leads into my next point.

3rd: Practice your class

  • Since I PvP healed as disc priest my whole life, learning a new class (SV Hunter) took some practice. Watch videos on your rotation, bind your spells in an order that makes sense. Really practice your class even in lower keys. I pugged a lot of low level keys for this.

4th: Learn your utility spells

  • Know when to self cleanse if you can, understanding when to use a defensive, using a self heal, these little moments accumulate and help your healer manage large AOE damage that this season seems to enjoy. Once I had this down I could play around a little like turtle + sprint to absorb orbs from the boss in City of Threads.

There’s probably a lot more things I could include about my time learning how to M+ but these are things that helped elevate my gameplay immediately. Gearing has been very difficult and for a long time I felt “behind” my friends and other people pushing. Hopefully these things can be adjusted with time? Or is gear meant to take a good amount of the season?
