I am perhaps the worse trapper NA.......what do you other hunters do for traps? Run up to your trap target? Trap from far away?
99% of my missing traps are that I try and anticipate where they are going from far away lol.......I actually hit more traps by them randomly walking on it rather then me "trying" to trap....../hangs head in shame.........
Strayarrows the NON-trapper~
Looking at your armory, I am assuming you are playing BM.. With BM to make landing traps easier I usually Intimidation>Trap or try and Conc shot>Trap (Harder)
Or you have to follow up on your partners cc. I play KFC/PHP so If I use my Intimidation on kill target and Warrior/Paly stuns healer then Ill trap off of their stun.
However Survival you can just Harpoon>Trap which makes trapping really easy.

As BM it isn't as easy to land traps on your own compared to SV because you lack Harpoon & Tracker's Net. What you can do is trap out of your partner's CC so that it's much more likely to land. I think another way is to just get close enough to the target you are trying to trap that it'll be very difficult for them to dodge it because it won't have a long travel time.
Edit: basically what Champpjones said.

I have become pretty good at trapping solo on my BM after playing Hunter for a decade, but yeah it's honestly much more difficult that people realize. It's definitely no shimmer shimmer poly I'll tel you that. Funny how people act like BM is the easiest spec in the game when it's actually harder than most of the 3 button specs in today's game.
Best advice is to coordinate the trap with a partner. Watch for when their CC lands (like HoJ) and follow up on it. Alternatively you can trap on your own with Intimidate>Ice trap but I really don't like that as I prefer to have my pet on kill target ASAP when healer is trapped and to use it to lock the kill target down. Plus intimidate is only up once a minute so you need to learn another way the other half of the time you try trapping. I guess it could be good though if you see they are running adapt. Honestly I can't even remember if intimidate is still 3 sec in BfA like past xpacs or if they changed it to 5 seconds like they did some other stuns.
You can trap with just concussive shot on healer, but you have to play little mind games with them by concussive shotting them then getting close without trapping, watching what they do, then trapping when they've used their counter cc/mobility/utility to stop it. Bad healers will freak out as soon as you get close to them and use all of their outs at which point you just wait and then trap them and burst the dps. Good healers will hold globals and watch what you do and their dps will get in position to avoid damage during trap or try to peel/eat the trap.
There's also other things you can do like vs monks drop ice trap on their port, or vs Resto druids I like to just switch to DPS'ing them entirely until trap is off CD then trap them and switch to DPS and go back to them once they are out of trap and they've hotted up the dps. Hope this helps but ultimately you just need a lot of practice doing it after realizing what's going on.

k gotcha, ty guys
Get close to your target and conc shot like Champpjones said. Or use the stun. It is much harder to land a trap on a non snared or stunned target. Also keep in mind travel distance, if they can see the trap flying at them they will move.
