What it’s actually like to try and find any +6 key as an ele shaman even with a 610+ Ilvl and a deep M+ / raid history.

Ele is really strong - it’s just not considered meta so you’ll struggle to get invites. Everyone is fishing for Aug, Arcane, Frost DK, Assassination, Affliction etc right now. Entire community of meta slaves, especially the people running 6-10s right now.

Ele is great. The AoE damage is excellent, the ST damage is competitive, short CD kick, AoE stun or Thunderstorm to deal with Xalatath Orbs, Bloodlust, Windrush totem, poison cleansing, good mobility, mastery raid buff.

The list of reasons to take Elemental is lengthy. The community just has something of a bias. I’d say the only people instantly getting invites that aren’t tanks / heals are super high geared Frost DKs and Aug Evokers.

Edit: For full disclosure, I also don’t invite Eles, but it’s because my 4-stack is Brew, Aug, Arcane, Rshaman. We have one DPS spot open, and I think double shaman loses value. We usually try to find Affliction, Frost DK or Assassination rogue. I’d love Mark of the Wild, but Feral is “meh” and although Boomie can be really good, most of them seem to underperform. Tonight, we ran almost all of our 6s with a Sin rogue.

We are partly suffering because of how strong Resto sham is right now. It’s reasonable for groups to not want double sham.

Also more and more playing meta every patch. Sucks.

It’s post like this, that make me sad to not even want to play this game. Such attitudes. Not very enticing to a new WoW player.

Frankly its not true, Resto and Enhance are also very good and to be honest they have done a decent job of balance with classes.

I’m just dipping my toes into higher keys but I haven’t really had any problems finding groups so far. We have pretty exceptional AoE damage and great utility. Maybe at the really high end keys I could see mages and resto shaman pushing us out due to comp overlap, survivability, and a lack of burst/ST.
