Festering Scythe (Unholy’s Frostscythe)
X sec cooldown A sweeping attack that strikes all enemies in front of you for (X% of Attack power) Shadow damage. This attack infects the primary target with X Festering Wounds.
Festering Wound
A pustulent lesion that will burst on death or when damaged by Scourge Strike, dealing (X% of Attack power) Shadow damage and has X% chance to summon an Army of the Dead Ghoul for X sec.
Desecrated Scythe (Unholy’s Consecrated Blade)
Talent
Festering Scythe casts Death and Decay at the primary target’s location. This effect can only occur every X sec.
With the above changes, Festering Wounds would be more fun to use because it has a chance to summon a ghoul. Festering Scythe would also feel better to press. And Cleaving Strikes would not be so terrible because Festering Scythe can be talented to drop DnD.
No thanks, mentioned it before but I really don’t want to be a ret clone personally, would rather have something different
I like this idea, quite a bit - but would rather get rid of wounds entirely.
Also, apocalypse removed? I kinda disagree on that one. Apocalypse is one of the most flavorful abilities we have, we need more necromancy, not just sporadic necromancy imo.
Like, instead of summoning a random fodder minion, make the x% random summon a volatile zombie/ghoul that runs in and explodes for x% ST damage and splashes to AoE targets
Understood. But note that Army of the Dead is now on a 3 min cooldown now, so I think DK will still have that iconic necromancy theme even with Apocalypse removed. Apocalypse and Army of the Dead have always seem redundant to me, if it was up to me, I’d merge the two by lowering the Army cooldown further and reducing the damage.
100%. Festering Strike needs to be a skill that feels good to press. Example, Blades of Justice never felt great to press, but with the Paladin rework and all the bells and whistles added to Blades of Justice (AoE, Consecration, Holy damage, etc), it is now a decent button press.
Apoc is basically what the Rift Necromancer soul had. Expended Charge (mage resource like rage) to summon some zombies on a CD. They basically took that ability, and made it based off of wounds.
I think the rift necromancer is what Unholy wants to be but isnt able to.
Since Blood dks mostly use Death Strike, they can get…
Death Scythe:
Replaces Death Strike with Death Scythe. Death Scythe deals damage to all enemies in a cone in front of the Death Knight, healing the Death Knight for “X”% of the damage dealt and applying a Blood Plague to all affected targets, which deals additional shadow damage over 10 seconds.
They could also do one that gives bone shield charges if it doesn’t replace death strike, or somehow effects bone shield. Bone Scythe composed of blood and bone? Replace marrowrend? IDK. I’m spit balling here. I do like the scythe mantra going here though (festering scythe & frostscythe)
