That was an absolutely amazing graphics card in it day and it’s pretty decent today.
The best investment you can make when buying computer equipment is to buy top-of-the-line stuff that’s ahead of its time as I’m sure now you are learning. That video card was a really good investment you made
I FINALLY finished mine that I started at the beginning of 2020, and only finished just yesterday for the same reasons:
Ryzen 9 5900x - auto settings (I need the multi-core performance more)
Noctua NH-D15
Asus Crosshair Hero VIII M/B (original)
G.Skill 64GB (2x32GB) 4000Mhz CL17 (still in the process of tightening further)
MSI RTX 3080Ti Gaming X Trio (the item I picked up from Bestbuy yesterday from a drop I won a week prior)
Samsung Evo 970 1TB
Samsung Evo 860 1TB
Samsung Evo 850 500GB
Seagate 4TB
Seagate 1TB
LG - 32” UltraGear QHD Nano monitor
Corsair Graphite 760t case
Corsair RM850X P/S (Unexpected upgrade because Snowrunner tripped my OC protection on my 750W after installing my new GPU and cranked up the settings to max).
Very nice! I went with the Dark Hero myself on my latest build. It’s a great board. The out of the box Zen 3 compat and no chipset fan were big attractions, but it’s also just been generally solid with the BIOS version it shipped with exhibiting zero issues. I normally do Gigabyte but Asus has impressed me so far with this one.
Curious on why you’re swapping your EVGA card out for an MSI one, though. I have a 3080Ti FTW3 myself which shares the same cooler and it’s been killer for me so far, and MSI seems to have a spotty track record with cards (e.g. unpadded memory). I’ve not owned a high end MSI card though, just an Aero 560 ITX “it drives a monitor” sort of card.
Also the Dark hero doesnt have that Beta Tester slow moving mouse and Glitchy Felling Bios of the regular hero. I love this mobo. Im also -25 All core on PBO2 with this board. Very good VRMS
Hmm thought you had another Ryzen in there between the 9900k and 10900k. Wasn’t that the basis of your AGESA complaints? Anyway, hope you’re figuring out how to better maximize your investments.
I dont count that lol. I had it briefly. It was more for just testing purposes. I had a 5800x
No the basis for my complaints was the AGESA system it self. It needs a overhaul. However most of my complaints I was able to look the other way on with the Rog Dark Hero due to some AGESA changes in that motherboards Bios. It didnt get rid of them but it made them less aggravating if you catch my drift.
You have to keep in mind I am not your typical buyer at all. This is literally my job. I build custom gaming rigs for a living. So I will often buy products at a discount of course just to benchmark them
