My depression has stopped me from enjoying Shadowlands

Anyone else feeling the same way lately?

It seriously sucks and I hate it.

I want to enjoy the expansion but I just have such a lack of energy and motivation to play since it’s new.

I’ve been depressed for past 20 years. I’m just playing videogames. That’s the only thing i do.

More like Shadowlands, and the state of the video game industry in general, is making me depressed.

I have extreme treatment resistant depression and honestly… pretty good Xpac IMO…

Same problem wow has always had… interacting with other players is a nightmare. that part depresses me a little

It sounds like you have medical grade depression, instead of “lack of energy”.

When you feel nothing towards even the things you enjoy, you might want to go see a doctor, add exercise, and work on your diet. Otherwise it hinders you from being able to live life.

It’s not your mental state. It’s the game. Take a break. Go to church and find happiness in Christ.

In 9.1, the game might be worth it. Playing classic myself.

Never trust someone who can absolve themselves of all wrongdoing by asking forgiveness from their imaginary friend.

Btw, i recently played baldurs age 1/2 and planescape torment for first time (i wasn’t an rpg kid when i was young, sadly) - they are amazing. It doesn’t even matter that they’re 22 years old, they’re insanely good and better than everything that was released afterwards

This makes me feel sad.

Opposite. Game makes me not think about unpleasant things. Probably gives serotonin and dopamine too based on articles I’ve read.

Eh, it’s fine. Games exist so i can just keep playing. Even if modern industry is dying - i still have great amount of old games i haven’t played. Just finished 2005s The Bards Tale. Very fun, but also terrible game with endless corridors with mobs (that stunlock you until you die, i hate this). But “bad luck to be you” songs worth it.

I honestly don’t think it’s ‘depression’ more so it’s just the constant want/need to want to feel that excitement from the game but those dopamine levels just don’t do it for you.

At some point your body gets numb to it and it causes some people to fall into a depressive or sometimes angry state that makes them want to like it but just have no feelings towards it.

Take a break, focus on yourself, and wow will be here when you want to come back.

Yes much agreed!

Im not sure what you are saying here…
Are you depressed IRL and are now not enjoying normally enjoyable things?
OR are you just not getting the same enjoyment out of WoW?
Those are two very different things

Gotta stay regular. Make a routine and keep it. Get light exercise. Get sun. Get fresh air. Clean the house. Shower everyday. Keep the routine and get through the days and it will eventually lift. I’ve had two major depressions In my lifetime and I’m 41 years old and that’s really the only thing you can do, is stay as regular as possible and take care of yourself the best you can in the meantime. Best wishes. By the way, if you drink/substances, get off then now

Lol same

But here I am anyway, cuz at least this way I’m not alone with my thoughts

Never sure if these depression conversations are meme-depression-woe-is-me or legit depression so always confused on empathy levels, but if you’ve been fighting depression for 20 years take some time to recognize your will and stamina as that’s a hell of a battle.

That being said, BG 1&2 and Planescape Torment are exceptional. Icewind Dale is worth a go as well though the story is not as deep.

Depression stops people from enjoying everything they like. Hope you feel better soon.
