My demands

The night elf quarter (IE the Park District) was as “night elfy” as the dwarven district is “dwarfy”. Meaning the barest of touches in still very human buildings and terrain.

People liking the video doesnt mean they actually liked Garrosh. I liked the video and I hate the character.

But that’s me and I doubt I’m alone in that feeling :wolf:

It had a moonwell. That was the ONLY Night Elf element within the Park District.

What replaced it is arguably a lot more Night Elf than the original district save for it’s total lack of any decent shade from the Sun.

I don’t see any argument where Varian’s tomb is more “night elven” than the park, which at least had night elves and a moonwell.

Human king tombs and water parks aren’t really seen anywhere in night elven areas. Darnassus had canals, but so do Stormwind and the Undercity (polluted though the latter is). Benches certainly aren’t a staple of night elves, given Darnassus had no useable ones.

Really not seeing this argument.

Also in the old park, at least the buildings looked night elven. Not really sure where anyone is getting a NE vibe from the new area that replaced the park. Unless Drah is counting the six kaldorei NPCs hanging around as making it…somehow more Night elven

What I find even more frustrating is Blizzard’s claims that they plan story beats several expansions in advance, so while they were designing Lion’s Rest if they already knew they were going to have Night Elf refugees in Stormwind they decided to not restore the Night Elf district and instead stick them off with the pumpkin farmers.

My issue with Lion’s Rest is the fact Varian’s buried there and not with his wife. That seems a little out of touch.

It’s like, you know in the very next expansion you’re gonna burn down Teldrassil, and you have a dead king. Why not bury him in the cemetary right over there next to his wife, build the place up to look all fancy with its own water park and everything, and turn the old Park District into something nice where you can later place the night elf and worgen refugees?

I remember the Park and it’s moonwell. There wasn’t a single Night Elf building in it. They were all Human construction.

As Alynsa covered earlier, same is the case with the Dwarven District, yet it is still recognized as the Dwarven District.

One… it has the entrance to the express train to Ironforge

Two… it’s full of Dwarves doing dwarven things from blacksmithing to beer.

Three: it’s even smokier than Ironforge.

So counter.

One, the Park had an actual piece of night elf architecture and religious relevance in the form of a Moonwell.

Two, it had night elves aplenty.

Three, it was geographically distinct from the rest of the city in that it had less pavement and buildings, favoring an open square vibe. Large open spaces are common in night elven areas.

If the Dwarven District can be the Dwarven District, then the Park District, which was unofficially the night elf district, can unofficially be the night elf district. It’s as night elf-y as the other is dwarf-y.

It was a pretty crappy moonwell that didn’t glow. I always thought that it was a fake one put together by the Stonemasons.

About as much as the present place does now.

The present incarnation is ALL open space and it has a lot more green to it.

It never was even close to being as “elfy” as the other district was dwarven and gnome flavored.

You can have him, some (re)assembly required.*

Farming pumpkins for our human overlords is our lot in life, apparently. I am reminded of the fact that Metzen had to REALLY sell the idea of the Kaldorei to the OG team, who found the idea of “wood elf drow” off putting and really just wanted to do classic Legolas wood elves.

I am not sure to this day if everyone is truly on board with the concept behind them.

Well… buried is a strong word, given the tomb is empty as he was vaporized. It is really more of a memorial to those who died in the Legion assault I suppose.

Yeah, gonna have to just agree to disagree. How you get a large field of grass being less green that a few grassy side bits is logic I just can’t get. A district of all human buildings and fixtures being more “dwarven flavoroed” than having a distinctly night elf piece of architecture that is of religious signifigance to their people is also some logic I’ll never get.

Guess we’ll just have to accept we cannot see eye to eye on this.

I’m good with that.

It definitely has a lot less grass than the park. The park didn’t have much stone flooring, it looked like it was comfortable to walk on barefoot.

You ever try walking in primordial forest? There isn’t much left of that on this planet, whether you’re talking Europe or the United Sttes. Not what passes for forest after the original millennia old forest has been stripped away and replanted? What a Night Elf would call a forest?

Walk barefoot in that and you’ll slice your feet to ribbons.

I don’t think Evelysaa was comparing the grassy park to a primordial forest tho?

You ever try walking in an actual park?
