My commentary on this recent Better Bachelor video

I give a lot of kudos to Joker, mainly because this is a clear and present reality for not a few of us and especially moi.

To say I am the Dave Thomas of WoW would be a fair argument: going from a first-time-MMOer noob loser warlock to a world-first achiever. But it meant nothing compared to the chase, the Hunt as it were, of mastering this class in WPvP against whatever odds. I often times fell into [circumstantial] depression because I never wanted those days to end. I wanted to keep on hunting, no matter how bleak things got. Just being able to log and keep bagging Alliance(as efficient as possible) was all the fulfillment I could really ask.

In tandem with namedropping WoW and spouting off some old Wrath-era stuff, Joker made a good point: nobody is going to remember what you were, what you did once, or what you used to have. But what new ventures are you pushing yourself towards? I think of all the other world-firsters, 50-Toppers, etc.: where are they right now in online or offline life? Where are those who took pride in being in the best guilds? So much of those glory moments are becoming ancient history, living only in the minds of those who afford them rent in rundown places.

It would mean that if I can’t do my former WPvP thing–and still keep my place as one of the best MM’s and Hunters in the business–I would have to take this video’s message a lot more seriously. Guilds come and go. “Friends” come and go. BiS gear will expire. Exclusive rewards will someday be discontinued when Retail will be discontinued. As Joker said, what can continue is more self-improvement.

If one thing is true: there’s nothing that gets both of my hearts racing than to successfully stick it to some PvE nerd who thought he was better than me in the field, OR in the City. Or just making hostile territory my own home. Or simply being the “few and the proud” of a given class/spec.

So when Shadowlands and 10.0 goes live, what will I graduate to for challenge? After all, getting 2,500+ HKs in the cities solo is quite too much a BTDT affair. This video is getting my wheels turning. Perhaps a ice cold Kaja’Cola would be nice…

To make the application for WoW, I don’t need the most gold, the best guild, or even the best, ummm…whispers (gamer girls) to find happiness.

Happiness is or was stalking SW City or IF at night, looking for certain opportunities. :smirk_cat:

Wait, the hamburger man?

He used to do a certain kind of fried chicken back in the day. But yes, that was back when he was a nobody.
