This has been going on for a month and it’s really starting to get to me. My collections button down on the bottom right is almost constantly flashing. When I click it, it’ll stop for a short while and start flashing again.
I’ve tried scrolling and clicking on countless things inside my collection, scrolling through trying to satisfy it, but it just won’t go away!
I guess you just can’t edit the original post for some reason?
It’s actually on this character, haven’t checked to see if it affects my others. Clearing WTF, Cache, and Interface as instructed at:
Does not affect the issue. The collection button will start and stay flashing any time my mouse cursor passes over any kind of equippable gear. It will go away once I click it, but since the trigger is something so basic, it’s pretty much always on. Scan and Repair didn’t help either.

Some things are character specific and are saved server side. Let’s try clearing those.
Open the Character Selection screen. Select the character with issue. In this case Dathamar.
(Don’t log character in)
Click the Menu button in lower left corner - select System - then at bottom of pane select Reset User Options - click “Okay”. Now log in to that character.
(You will need to follow this for each Character you wish to reset)
Something no one has mentioned yet, but I found why mine was flashing. I had the water strider on all my character and when they did away with the water walking and made the mount articles in the patch, it put the water walking one in my bags for those at level 100+. On each of the 100+ characters the collections tab (mount specifically) was the reason it kept flashing. As soon as I used the mount item, it quit flashing.
If you have any type of mount equipment not being used (as the spot is blank on your mount screen) but you have one in your inventory, may be the reason it’s flashing.
Now that looks like a good possibility there Gentianna. Thanks for that I will keep it in mind.

That is indeed what it was. All I had to do was mouse over the mount equipment area. I have nothing to put in it so it remains empty, but it stopped flashing.
Finally, that was driving me crazy. Thank you both.

Just a heads up that I was having the same problem and this fixed it lol.
Was hard to find this thread in google though.
That’s some bad UX right there. I do it for a living and still had to google to get rid of it.
