My amazing ride in BGs. Thanks, Classic

Level 60 is rough as a PUG. Premades abound, and gearing is rough if you can’t keep to a raid schedule.

But twink BGs? That’s in reach for anyone who can farm some gold and do a bit of leveling. People like different brackets. I enjoyed 19 and 29 the least. 39 made me feel brokenly overpowered. 49 and 59 have been the best experience I’ve had in classic. So much fun!

Seeing a premade, until recently, was pretty rare in twink brackets. Premades are ranking, and you get less honor in lower brackets. The thing is…you get 95% in the 59 bracket, and about 60% in the 49 bracket. You can get real ranks.

Over the past couple weeks we’ve seen the same two premades in the 59 bracket. Before leaving the 49 bracket I saw premades from the same two servers. There are very few games…usually 1-4 for WSG and 1-2 for AB. That makes almost every one not just against a premade, but against the same premade.

This is a fairly new thing, and has had a dramatic effect over the last few weeks.

Our queue times are skyrocketing. People who’ve been playing for a while aren’t showing up anymore. Games are becoming more lopsided, whether a blowout win or loss.

I suppose I could make a new alt and try a lower level. Maybe play my mage.

It just makes me sad that the tryharding is spilling over into twink brackets. Seeing a twink team drop 100g in consumes is one thing. Having a full premade of twinks on epic mounts in the 59 bracket is something else entirely.

I’m not complaining about the game, mind you. I’ve played I don’t even know how many BGs in the last year, across characters on both horde and alliance and absolutely loved it. Wow was it amazing, and it rekindled my youth. I’m grateful. But I also see it coming to an end for the random puggers such as myself.

Being premade fodder isn’t a compelling gameplay experience. Graveyard camping and taunting pugs is a bad look. No regrets, but it’s also time to start hunting for a replacement game.

Thanks for the wild ride, Classic. Totally worth it.

I’m complaining, I hate it… I came here for post like this or to start one… I too will be looking for something else… I avoided twinkVP hoping the 51-59 bracket would be just guys trying to get gear on their journey to 60… What I am running into now pretty much sucks the life out of me… I spent day of playing time IRL on this game only to realize 1. Trying to fight against pre-mades is pointless and 2. As alliance you will learn to HATE alliance…

I wish I could faction change… But I guess I will just have to settle for a game change… I hate the fact that their is NOTHING out there MMORPG wise worth playing it seems if you like to PPV.

Thank you for saving me the trouble of building a 49, that’s what this character was slated to be, but now I’ll just take him to 60 for TBC because I’ll need several rogues for area so I can play with all my friends.

60 PvP went from full teams of idiots, literally the worst PvP players I have ever seen dumping tons of money in consumables every game as a full zugzug, to now it’s mostly pug vs pug and a ton of fun.

Isn’t twinking by it’s very base form a little try hard to begin with?

So you made twinks to beat up levelers, thanks for living up to the stereotype

You should reconsider the 49 bracket, but I would suggest one of the active alliance servers with 49 communities. Thunderfury for example has a 39-49 guild that helps with power leveling and gear runs. White mane is another 49 alliance guild. Try out the 49 bracket it’s worth it

Honestly, in my experience, 60 pugs have been improving (with respect to amount of premades you run into). It depends on the days, but it seems the number of premades in queue is getting smaller every week. I find if I queue on sunday and monday, I run into very few premades. There’s still an issue with botters/afkers, but I’m getting a fair amount of reasonable games (as reasonable as a bunch of random people thrown on a team together can be, anyway).

It’s funny because twinking in retail is far less intrusive to the leveling brackets, but Blizzard still went out of their way to put an end to it. Players can now see what true twinking is, with the addition of later phases that brought in all the big hitter enchants to classic.

Everyone whined about retail twinks having elemental force on their boa weapons as if the entire bracket isn’t 90% boa levelers to begin with. That’s nothing compared to classic twinks with their bis dungeon blues, everything enchanted, crusader proc not scaled down, agi to both weapons giving a massive amount of ap and crit and just straight up specs that are more powerful at that level range. I would hate to be level 20ish character and run into some 29 twink with over 500g worth of enchants.

That’s what I was thinking as I was reading this. The premades are basically doing to the twinks what the twinks have done to the regular levelers.

Twinking is in essence no different than what premades at 60 do. You are trying to optimize every possible advantage you can have against unsuspecting players who have no means of fighting back.

The difference is true twinking doesn’t actually exist anymore because there’s no new lower level players. Twinking is just cheesing new players as hard as possible to stroke your own ego. You can’t twink when everyone else is also a twink with 60 mains feeding them gold lol.

You both have a point, and I get why people hate twinks. I don’t want to twink. I want to pvp and have a chance. I found that I could buy decent blues, and get decent enchants, and all I had to do was spend a bit of time farming.

What’s the alternative if you want to pvp?

I’m looking for competitive BGs. I’d take normalized gear in a heartbeat, but I know that would never fly. Since that won’t fly I twink. If you can’t beat em join em.

Notice that the suggestion up above is for me to start joining premades. I think that’s a super fun experience, but right now my real life is chaotic enough that I can only sit down for 30-40 minutes. I generally get one game at a time.

I had a blast, like I said. Even getting rolled by premades at 60 on my first main I was still back in the past playing a game I loved. The first few weeks of AV when everyone on both sides was trying was amazing.

Phase two was amazing. I was on a Deviate Delight, and we were just slightly outnumbered by the alliance.

But yes we’ve reached a point where the leveling brackets are all dominated by people in x7-x9 who will squawk at anyone under that. We really are the retail community trying to pretend we’re not haha.

I never saw anyone use a FAP, LIP, sapper charge, mongoose potion, or any of the other stuff I saw in every bracket from 19 - 59 when I played vanilla. That’s rampant in all brackets of classic.

Still worth it, but as the race accelerates I want to get off the track lol. I don’t want to make all the consumes to keep up.

Premades are dying down because AQ40 has better weapons which are far easier to get than grinding rank 14. Premades are going to be even more rare when Naxx releases.

I think any server that has AQ gates open can already pug bosses like Fankriss and other bosses that drop armaments and regalia.

That’s the problem with PvP in a game that’s so open ended. The community has the chance to take the meta in a direction you may not like. IMO, you would probably be better off playing a game that’s balanced around PvP. Maybe some kind of shooter. And I don’t say that to be condescending. This game just isn’t balanced around PvP.

Maybe you can come back to WoW for arenas in TBC?

I won’t come back for Arenas, but I will come back for leveling, dungeons, and BGs. I was competitive enough in last season’s honor gear, and I really hated pillar humping.

BC battlegrounds were my all time favorite. There will be no premades, the classes will be more balanced. And sure I’ll run into people with raiding gear or high level arena gear, but how many of them are going to queue for EoTS?

I’m not looking to play call of duty. I love building my character, and enchanting gear, and going to specific dungeons to obtain pieces. I think the people complaining about twinks are the ones who should consider a different game, to be honest.

This game is all about how much of a massive advantage you can stack over your opponent, and you’ve calling people out for stacking an advantage. No one can twink against you in Overwatch.

I was looking at this when I was thinking about you playing something else. So, you like twinking and being able to put the work in to get an advantage, but isn’t that what the premade and consumables people are doing? They’re just doing it to a more extreme degree.

With that said, I agree TBC will fix some of this. The super min maxers will probably go into arenas, so BGs should in theory be more casual.

I come from a hyper-specialized group that likes competition, likes building my character, but doesn’t want such a huge advantage that I’m one shotting people. I like having to work to be competitive.

Yes, you’re totally right that all the people with premades and consumes are just taking it to the logical conclusion. I don’t fault them at all for that. I just recognize my place in that.

I’ve never found anything similar to the WoW BG experience, except maybe World versus World in Guild Wars.

At the end of the day getting a year out of classic PvP before I lost twink brackets seems pretty fair. I played every class at some level.

TBC BG queues will be longer than classic wows because of all the ally rerollers. Horde racials are even bigger than ally in TBC, and with Arena, you don’t actually need an enemy faction for pvp.

I mean when I played at 59 2 months ago it was just the same r11 allies with arc reapers every game

I like to contrast the PvP community of Classic WoW (both then and now) with the space combat (JtL) PvP community of SWG (Radiant server). The former seems hell bent on getting as many people to quit the game, while the latter tried to get more people involved in the game by making the game more inviting to newer, less experience players.

The WoW PvP community is/was collectively pretty crappy, Twinking, premading, exploiting, ganking and general griefing. Getting joy out of ruining other peoples good time. Not the sort of people that a normal people would ever associate with.

It something parents out there should pay attention to with their children.

Listen Little Jimmie, do you want to be like n00bslah69er? Well do you?!?!

I never had a problem in BGs on my horde shaman or alliance warrior. Just stack stamina gear and delete people in glass gear(I value 1 point of stamina at 20 of any other stat). Most people in bgs are really low health unless they’re using consumables/world buffs, except for tanks.

Premades are more coordinated and throw more money, so it makes it rough, but even vs premades you can squeeze our reasonable honor/game as long as you stick to people who can purge/dispel those stamina buffs and bubbles off them.

The only consumables I ever needed was “mana potion”(enough to cast an extra purge, big heal), “superior healing potion”(always catches people off guard)
