A sample size of one is large enough to know that a character with only three games played shouldn’t be on a 1937 MMR team.
I mean if you went 8-1 in 1200 lobbies. Yeah 1300-1400 is perfect fit. Do you know how many games you would ruin if you won 5 games and suddenly were 2900.
What a stupid thing to say as I never suggested that. In fact, I said that I don’t expect to be in anything near or over 2K rated MMR matches with only playing nine games, so nice strawman there. I also shouldn’t be facing 1200 MMR teams and not all of the wins were against 1200 MMR teams, but thanks for making my point that the game judges you heavily based upon the teams you are playing (something you can’t control).
So, if it constantly puts you against teams much lower MMR than you it is actually hurting you regardless of whether you win or lose.
Also, I see you all still ignore my SV hunter getting into a 1937 MMR match with only 2W 1L, as it totally blows away your arguments “of playing where you belong.”
It feels like around 1500 CR is an unforgiving bottleneck. I was like 11-2 on my DK and then started losing a few 1200-1400 lobbies, which drastically started affecting my CR. I’m not good enough to consistently go on 5+ wins in a row to get out of this rut, so it feels like it’s going to be a lot of “1 step forward, 2 steps back” progress.
I’m sure it will all even out eventually but it’s a very volatile bracket. Complete wild wild west.
Me being at 1693 currently, looking at 1700 with hope that I can finally break through the 1600 hell.
Narrator He lost.
My rogue got 152 CR to take him to 1587 CR in a single game because it got put into a 1660+ match for both teams (the enemy team MMR is the most important thing here).
Nearly skipped all of the 1500 CR range with a single game just because it got fortunate enough with it’s match placement.
Have you tried being luckier?
Rogue was 9W 9L going into that match, for the record.
So, hey… maybe out of placement games on the rogue. Woot.
Perfect Ratio! Maybe that’s the key. Balance the win/loss.
“Sorry guys, I have to lose this one for my ratio”
Why not?
If it is an account with many other toons with good rating, it started with an MMR bonus. Then you started strong and are being placed where it thinks you will be challenged.
You do get that the system naturally wants to push you to 50%, right?
Why haven’t any of my other characters started with this “account bonus” and only my SV hunter?
I don’t know what order you leveled your toons in.
before I got sick this week and tooka break, I got my second to last toon, an eleSham into his first game.
Also the first toon I have started since some of my others have been getting 2k TAMMR games.
LONG Q but finally I get into an all zero CR game, but the team MMRs were both well above 1600 and did not match…
A bonus exists. I am sure of it. Details of how? Nope.
Edit: amazingly for a Zeroes match, I did not see any glaring bads,
There are a lot of high exp alts playing in low MMR. Some matches are very sweaty and close because of this. And, some matches are blowouts because of this as well.
More detail, this was a toon I leveled in remix and then dung blasted to 80 later, I haven’t been in any PvP content on this toon, ever. He has honor gear i bought with transferred honor. First RBGB, ever, on this toon.
And his 0CR first match had 2 teams of all 0 CR and both were 1600+ TAMMR.
Literally my very first experience PvPing on an EleSham.
So whatever gave me that MMR boost, it was not something that happened on that toon.
Every other 0 match I have been in previously, had all 0 CR players and either a flat 1500 or lower TAMMR
Is it because rating is spec based (compared against all other toons of the same spec)?
My 1300 CR prot warrior is still in placement games (14 games so far) and I sometime face 2k mmr. This was a fresh warrior with 0 pvp history. Feels like he rank up faster than my hunter.
14 games 7 wins. (first 4 we’re all wins)
I mean, that’s how it’s designed. You just discovered the exact reason the rating system exists- your demon hunter won games they weren’t supposed to. Your Evoker lost games they weren’t supposed to.
I just wish the game actually itemized out gains and losses.
Tanks have a huge MMR flexibility, so if you get lucky with placements against high MMR teams you can climb fast.
Meanwhile, I am only getting matches against 1300 teams even with high personal win rates which is crushing my soul.
So much rides on the teams you get placed against, which is literal RNG.
You get placed into ten 1200-1400 teams back to back and the chances are high you are going to lose at least one. Then Blizzard says, “AHA! WE KNEW IT!!!”
But, we were getting placed into those games even with a 100% win rate. And, yes. We eventually lost one, which started an even worse decline in the MMR of the teams we faced. Our bad, for not continuing to win 100% of our games.
I need to just set up a copy paste of “you are in placement games”
