My 3 Issues With Shadowlands After a Week of Playing

  1. This is the most bugs I’ve ran into during an expansion launch. With COVID and everyone working from home it’s understandable but hopefully these bugs aren’t still around months from now. Notable bugs: got bonus objective to 100% with no additional requirements but it will not complete, flight paths from Bastion sometimes lack animation and will teleport you around but you will arrive at your location normally, and unable to complete normal quest when there is a world quest in the same area.

  2. Threads of Fate is extremely lack luster in both enjoyment and experience. This could be a personal preference for me but having the freedom to level through normal quests, WQs, dungeons, etc. feels directionless and I’m finding it hard to level that character up through the Threads method. It’s also a bummer watching your experience slowly creep up unlike if you would have done the normal method.

  3. The Maw isn’t fun. For me, the lack of mobility really is jarring. It feels bad to play especially in a place that huge with areas that are dense with hard hitting mobs. The Eye of the Jailer mechanic also seems to increase way too quickly. By the time I get those two dailies knocked out, I usually am almost or at the third rune. I’ve also notice lack of players in the zone which isn’t surprising with little mobility and the Eye discouraging you from staying in the zone. It’s to the point where I either put it off until the very end of a session or don’t even bother.

Bonus) Plaguefall kind of sucks but we always have to have that ONE dungeon each expansion.

Otherwise, I’m enjoying mostly everything else. Torghast, new dungeons, the zones, treasures, Covenants, it’s all been great so far.

  1. Never had an issue with bonus objecties. Are you sure you didn’t miss a secondary objective? I’ve done that before.

  2. Teleporting? Are you sure you didn’t unlock your first travel bonus with you covenant? They let you travel instantly to spots.

  3. Never had a problem completing both normal and world quests in the same area. Again, are you sure you’re doing the secondary or tertiary objectives that often pop up in World quests?

  4. How is the freedom to skip the story a problem? You don’t HAVE to do it. If skipping the story is boring, then that’s on you, not them right?

  5. The maw is supposed to be difficult, and through hard work, you unlock better transportation and make it easier. You’re not supposed to go in and farm it like any other zone. Now you may not like that, but it is a design choice that isn’t inherently bad. I love it. So far, it also seems to be about gaining legendaries, which are optional.

I’m just mentioning all of these because I don’t think you’ve pointed out anything that Blizzard actually did wrong here. Personal preference is of course fine.

The bonus objective was at 100% with no additional tasks to complete.

I thought the teleportation pad was the reason at first also but then I took an actual flight path and it did it again.

There was a normal quest in the same area as the WQ that was up. The mobs you needed to rescue were not there because of phasing.

Idk how you got that out of what I said. I’m saying the Threads of Fate path isn’t as fulfilling as I thought it would be, especially the experience gain. You will level faster if you do it the original way which seems strange to me to have this new leveling path for alts just to have the original leveling be faster.

The Maw has nothing to do with Legendaries, Torghast does. The Maw can still be difficult while allowing mounts or a teleportation network. I’m not saying I want to farm the zone, I just want to enjoy it like Timeless Isles and similar zones.

I’m not saying Blizzard did anything wrong, I’m giving feedback. I’m letting them know what I’m not enjoying in hopes improvements will be made in the future. That is how feedback works.
