MW Thoughts

Ill just say it again, the talent revamp that resulted in a hard devide between going FW and SoothM is what has done the most damage.

Maybe blizzard was trying to please both crowds, by giving an option for MW players that absolutely did not want to press any dps button ever but ultimately, FWing should be a core component to MWs kit at its foundation, it doesnt need to exclusvely be tied to healing, but it should be their primary means of dealing damage while in some way augmenting their healing throughput like it used to be once upon a time.

It was enjoyable because you had to get good at the balance of handling both aspects, and THAT is what made the spec unique. Now, its like you have to go hard into one or the other and completely suck in the aspect you dont go, to the point where you are better off ignoring it altogether.

Like… why is teachings of the monastery not a baseline passive for MW? Why does crackling jade lighting have to astronomically suck so hard? Why does there have to be a hard choice between chi ji and yulon, instead of a choice between a passive talent or an active spirit summon that augments your actions depending on what you do, be it soothing or going in for melee?

That’s a problem with talent balancing. The options existing aren’t the problem. It’s that they aren’t designed better. Fixing that is a much more appropriate option that benefits everyone as opposed to calling for the obliteration of an entire style.

This I can agree with. I think it would make much more sense for options to essentially be

20% caster / 80% melee
80% melee / 20% caster, and levels of in between. As long as they don’t force people to go all or nothing, I’m fine with some level of forced FW style. It should however, still be an option how hard you want to lean in, and ideally not be so black and white like it is now.

Completely agree!!

Will continue to afk heal my wizards at 40 yrds

Except for the fact that you aren’t forced to do anything. Soothing Mist doesn’t lock you out of dps talents, that’s a player prerogative. If anything the meta for MW is a 30-40% Melee / 60-70% Caster.

I didn’t say that we were…?

I was replying to Exiter who stated, “it doesnt need to exclusvely be tied to healing, but it should be their primary means of dealing damage while in some way augmenting their healing throughput like it used to be once upon a time.”

Reading can be hard but it helps if you follow the conversation and aren’t just looking to jump down someone’s throat.

Really, cause it definitely looks like you were.

And maybe you should actually read your own words then?

The spec differentiation being ‘black and white’ is a reference to there not being much reason to not just spec full into caster or fistweaving. You’re fighting the talent design to attain a hybrid setup (and likely suffering for it) when it’s far easier to go all in on one and not deal with the talent and design issues.

No where did I indicate you are currently forced to do that, merely pointing out the design seems to incentivize that. Exiter then suggested that, “FWing should be a core component to MWs kit at its foundation, it doesnt need to exclusvely be tied to healing, but it should be their primary means of dealing damage while in some way augmenting their healing throughput like it used to be once upon a time.”

I agree with that, and “as long as they don’t force people…” are referring to two completely different things. The former being how it feels CURRENTLY, and the latter referring to Exiter’s suggestion for a change.
