MW monk has made a lot of progress but what the heck is going on with mana?

As per usual, in every expansion, that the monk has ever been a thing, the monk does pretty dang good. Its problem? Youll be oom before any other healer, by far, every game. Why blizzard? Why must the monk constantly be facing mana issues? Why cant you simply put it in line with other healers as far as mana goes?

…Forget to bind Mana Tea…? Their mana is pretty decent atm with it.

You can actually do well on mana if you manage it well.

Key tips in order of importance:

  1. Avoid using enveloping mist outside of Yu’lon. The 50% mana savings actually makes a difference.
  2. Use Thunder Focus Tea on Vivify. TFT doesn’t actually boost your healing in any significant way and if you identify the matchup as possibly a mana game then it’s worth the effort.
  3. Use Mana Tea’s buff to use Enveloping Mist outside of Yu’lon.
  4. Use Cracking Jade Ligthning with Jadefire Teachings for low mana tops. Be a bit greedy with it to hit at least 2 targets, just 1 target is usually pretty mediocre healing unless it’s rot damage.

Finally, for certain matchups and certainly NEVER for shuffle, run the Refreshment life cocoon talent. Don’t run this against melee cleaves.

Also, consider using Restoral’s dispell before the damage actually gets done. This saves you mana as well. For example, there is a specific point during warlocks’ soul rot that you want to press it on.

I play a non-night-elf race and don’t have mana issues. I routinely outmana other mistweavers as well and very rarely go OOM first since the hpal mana nerfs.

Consider watching some Meepmonk, Bankmw or Mysticall streams. These guys are doing great and you can look at how they decide to use their buttons and catch their mana optimizations. The strategy may be a little different in 3s than shuffle though (as I noted with the Refreshment talent), they stream primarily shuffle.

You should basically never go OOM in shuffle, matches will usually end due to dampening first.

Uhh, mw have historically had some of the best mana management and are excellent atm so long as they use their TFT, CJL, and mana tea effectively.
