MW Mastery Stacking?

I know for M+ most guides/people recommend haste>crit>=vers but I inadvertently am stacking mastery due to balefire branch + Beacon for my trinks, and some mastery ilvl upgrades I’ve gotten. I’m sitting at a fat 107.5% mastery (25.4 crit, 20.5 haste, 19.6 vers) and I’m also running Resplendent Mist. I really like the big gusts of mist healing, and it makes chi-ji feel very strong. Has anyone else tried mastery stacking? Thoughts on it?

I think people don’t die during your chi-ji window even if you have 0 mastery points and outside of it it just adds a minor boost to our single target healing, which doesn’t really need it.
Just my 2 cents.

Mastery is so bad. It’s on so much of the gear though it’s a it unavoidable sadly. Never take it intentionally

I personally love high mastery. It’s the way I’ve played MW for years. The heals feel so chunky and Gusts of Mists is always in the top 3-5 for healing done. It just feels good.

*Please note, I do not play the meta builds in M+ or raid and only go as high as heroic/M+ 17-19. So for me it works.

That’s really interesting … I wish more masteries were the optimal stat to take because it would be cool. I really feel like it should be the #1 stat for every class

Yeah you’d think an attribute called mastery would be more important to the specs and talents.

It’s really sad that versatility is so clearly just better because it also provides defense. Mastery scaling should be like 1/1.5 on WW not 1/1

At 26% mastery I get 26% more damage only if I do things right. At 26% versatility I get 26% more damage and 13% less damage taken regardless of if I do things right or not. For a brief moment I was wondering if maybe people were wrong about mastery but damn … that’s just downright bad.

This was my eureka “wow our mastery blows” moment.

It highly depends on your healing talent choice.
TL:DR
Haste - Crit/Verse for group/Raid + AT
Haste - Crit/Mastery for ST spot healing

Ancient teachings and Faeline you want Haste - Crit/Verse. Bigger, fast melee abilities means bigger and more heals going out as Mastery doesn’t benefit any if the melee abilities.

Raid Healing with Clouded Focus or AT you still want Haste - Crit/Verse as it will provide bigger heals from EM and Essence Font

However, if you’re looking at mostly spot healing, Haste - Mastery/Crit will come out a bit higher due to using Soothing Mist + EM/Vivify spam and getting gusts that way.

It’s fine until your lack of haste becomes an issue. It also makes your healing while outside of CD’s rather lackluster if you’re just depending on fistweaving for maintenance healing.

Really high mastery is good during heavy rot windows w/ chi ji – think 10+ stacks of bursting. It is very VERY bad when it comes at the cost of haste. The last boss of galakrond’s fall, for example. If your haste is too low, it can make the player targeted by extinction blast nearly impossible to keep up on tyran keys.

Too much emphasis on haste for MW it’s not that great of a stat

Mastery scales more throughout (in m+) than any other secondary stat but doesn’t contribute at all to dps

If you need the heals then mastery is fine

Otherwise you should have as much crit/vers as you can

This is wrong.

Crit is your best stat by a mile for both M+ and Raid. Haste is just a feelgood stat that helps more when fistweaving.

Mastery is okay to have if you have no options, but unless you hit a DR somehow for both your crit and haste, mastery is just not as comparable.

Fair enough.
Just going by what I’m using currently, something like 30% haste, 22% Crit, 20% verse.

Works well enough for raids and M+
