Streamers must always have a priority in MMORPGs. They advertise the game, people buy the game so they can be seen on the streamers stream and make it into the videos where the streamer adds them to friends or them gift the streamer something. NW built their game perfectly with streamer integration. Traditional ads are in the past, now is the age of streamers and they must be treated differently so they can shill the game.
For every one person that gets upset they’re not getting attention and leaves, there are 4 people joining, trying to get noticed by their streamer of choice.
That is complete nonsense and is completely making what happened sound like it was a small thing. People was literally swarming the guy making it impossible to see… Saying all sorts of nasty things trying to get him to quit the game.
Can we stop and not pretend this wasn’t the reason people was getting banned?
and incase you missed it before this doesn’t set precedent. These are thing Squar Enix always banned people for in that game. This behavior was never acceptable.
You’re using an extreme, far fetched example to justify your perspective. Just stop. You will only get banned if you are blocking queat npcs with mounts or something. There is literally no GM in the world that will ban you because you killed a chonker pig for a quest before Streamer McStreamerton did.
I think the confusion is these are things that are acceptable in WoW and don’t get you banned here. You are allowed to harass people by blocking their vision and quest NPCs.
Personally it’s one of the few things I like about FF, they ban trolls
WOW succeeded because the competition was way too hardcore and niche for the average gamer eg: permanent death, armor degradation, loss of loot or currency on death etc. Many of those games were also very hard to understand and figure out if you were new to the genre. It took me months just to figure out all the basics with SWG. WOW was so much more friendly to pick up and play. All of these factors led to the old competition dying off. Can’t blame a game for being so good and addictive that players weren’t interested in going back to gank fests and miserable grinds.
More like they have become reliant on streamers …WoW started before streamers really got big and it grew regardless.
Lets be real FFXIV has ALWAYS had an issue with trigger happy devs. I mean for the longest time they were banning people for “Spamming” when those people were just RPing.
And only when they have permanently damaged their RP community did they realize “Oh crap We goofed.”
Times change and you either adapt or die. People flock to streamers and a company would have to be absolutely foolish not to tap into that rich well of advertisement. In fact streamers are so cheap compared to traditional advertisement. Just send them a box of swag you have lying around the office and they’re happy.
As for that “other game” from my observations the GMs there actually do their jobs however you can change my mind if you can provide proof of people getting banned for spamming when they were just role playing. No disrespect towards you, I am just not going to take your word that it happened the way you said without evidence.
Exactly but in the mean time, while baldy and his group plays your game, they will be generating key sales. That is the unchanging reality of it. People will literally drop 60 bucks just to stand close to him in game. 60 bucks!
