Must restart the game to change audio output

Before this patch, I was able to change my audio output between speakers and headset while in-game. Now, I must change it, close, and re-open the game to notice the change.

Is this a common issue for everyone?

I am having the exact same issue actually. It was really nice being able to freely swap between speakers and headphones depending what I was doing. Doesn’t look like there’s any kind of “apply” button or anything for audio.

The client clearly has controls in the options menu meant to allow you to make these changes, and it has had since the first version of the Alpha I saw.

Those controls have never worked, and they still do not in this live release.

I have the same issue. The in-game setting doesn’t work for the audio output device switch, must re-start the game for those changes enforced.

Yes, I’m having the same problem.

I tried changing the settings in the game to my headset and it didn’t change anything. I went and changed over the sound settings on my computer as well while I was still logged into the game and nothing changed.

Only when I exited the game and logged back in did it change with just the WoW settings set to my headset, as I had changed my computer sound settings back to my speakers.

I have the same issue. Hope they fix this soon… I frequently switch between headset and speakers, so having to restart is a drag (and on launch of Dragonflight, just imagine waiting in queue to swap!!).

Got it also, I’m always switching my audio output device. This is very anoying.

This has been reported multiple times since DF alpha. And was working fine for decades on every blizzard game.
