Music is so loud

When ever I get into some quests that run through a movie, the music is SO loud I jump out of seat. I have turned down as many things as I can in the System but nothing is changing on movie music. I call it movie music. And because I have most things turn down I can not hear the dialog during the movie. Because the loud music. Is it possible to just turn the music down, or off ?
Thank you

It’s possible cinematics use the “Master” volume like some addons default to. I’d recommend turning that down fairly low and adjusting the other settings from there, rather than leaving it at Max and turning everything else really low.

You can do it one of two ways.

  1. Just want it disable when it is a bother than use ctrl+m to shut it off and on.
  2. Want to end it totally go into systems/sound and about halfway down the list you will find a radio button to uncheck that kills all music

This is the same thing as #1. Ctrl + M checks and unchecks that box.

I only enable sound for cinematics or content which require attention to audio cues.

I have the master 35% , sound is maybe 20, music is 15, ambience 20, dialog 25 %.
Im guessing the percent, it does’t really say. But they are all very low. But nothing is changing on Movie Music during the movie.

FWIW, I have Master at 4% (and everything else is pretty low too). Idk if it’s my headset or what, but much more than that and the game is MUCH louder than Discord. If your sound setup is anything like mine, 35% might still be significantly too high.

I don’t know if this is the solution though, just kinda spitballing.

If you have it at Master 35%, everything else 20%ish, maybe try turning Master down to 5% and everything else up to 70% or whatever to maintain how the game sounds outside of cinematics.

Then pay attention next time and see if the cinematic is quieter at 5% or not. You could test it by going to Northrend Dalaran and rewatching the Lich King ending at the fountain thing in the middle.

all good answers, thank you, I will try.

If only there was some options in the game to adjust volume levels, hmm, I don’t think Blizzard added them in, but if they did I’d put them in the Systems button in the Game Menu when you hit Escape…

Did you even bother to read this part here?

If only there were some options on the PC that let you control the volume and/or on your headphones or speakers, hmm, guess they haven’t invented that yet.

Oh you…

But yes, separate sliders for cinematic volume/music would be nice.

The issue is that the cinematic’s sound effects and music are overpoweringly loud compared to the dialogue (and the rest of OP’s game sounds) despite their volume settings already being rather low.

Don’t be who you’re being.

Not to mention its hard at times to hear the dialogue over the Music and Sound Effects. This has been an issue that has existed for years, been brought up multiple times, and still has not been fixed or dealt with.

Then there is the annoying bug of some times, depending on the cutscene, when you “skip cutscene” it still keeps blaring the music track until its over and even disabling/toggling music wont stop it.

I mute all the music when a cut scene begins so I can actually hear the dialog being spoken a shame because I’m sure the music creates a more intense atmosphere.

Yeah Blizz… please adjust the video player in game to level to the players audio setting for in game sounds and dialogue. It’s pretty ridiculous when a video suddenly flips on and forces me to snatch my headphones off.

Your sarcasm is sad, inappropriate to the situation and has nothing to do with a sudden ear piercing blast of sound 3x louder than your game sounds are set at.

Thing is for some of the cinematics (for example the music that plays when you hit Dazalor for the first time - if I remember correctly), the volume is not controlled by the game, it is based off your windows volume settings.

So you can set the game controls to zero, or even muted, and still get blasted if you have your windows volume set high.

It seems like something changed early in BfA, so the music was suddenly much louder and was drowning out the dialog, where it wasn’t before.

Since I started playing wow… since like BC, I have always had wow at 13-15% volume. No idea how people are able to have it any louder. Even at 25% is crazy loud for me.
