Murloco and the trading game

So I just got my benthic cloak that gives me access to the “special stock” in the trading game. Started doing my trades for the day, neeed: Alluring Idol, Pinky Finger, Taco.

Spent hundreds of gold to get the first two items, then started trying to figure out how to get the taco. Couldn’t find it on any of the traders. Wowhead to the rescue! It’s sold by Murloco who’s super far away. OK, I go to where he spawns. Waiting… Waiting… pull up Wowhead again, and, oh look, he’s on a spawn timer that based on reports might be be hours or even days. Cherry on top is those other items I bought are going to expire in 24 hours.

Can someone at Blizzard please find and resoundingly boo whoever came up with that component of the mini-game for me? I don’t like feeling like I’m being penalized in a non-trivial way for not poring over a guide before trying it out.

If you really need it you could server hop until you get him. Shouldn’t be too long. Take me like 10 minutes.

I use the group finder to get in a group that has Murloco up.

Also, there’s a website, mrrl.io that will tell you what order to buy things in so you’re not wasting too much time running around.

Group finder is usually pretty good about publicizing when he’s up on a shard.

That’s how I did it, and I didn’t start that crazy trade-a-thon until I researched how to do it. Took about 10 minutes from start to finish once I had the taco and the mount showed up on Mrrl.

I’m sorry but, what? He’s a two minute ride down the hill or a 30-second flight.

Also when you find Murloco, buy a taco, immediately sell it back to him, and buy a second one. Do the trade sequence, then buyback the first taco so you don’t have to find him again next time.

Why would you need to do it again once you have the mount?

Some of the other stuff might be worth doing to speed along questlines. One of them is like 150 XP to all three followers.

What you don’t like… is all that stuff you posted.

What I don’t like, is that we’re 3 weeks into this now, and I’ve never once heard of any of this schtuff.

I feel like GD used to have more discussions about things like this. So you could stay on top of the game without having to live on a 3rd party site.

Well at least now I know…

Once you have the right version of the Benthic cloak, the one I have on now, Azsh’ari Stormsurger Cape, and you have gotten the Taco from Murloco, here’s a handy video guide:

What?

You hate the game because you don’t have a Taco?

If you want the secret items, play the secret game.
if you don’t want the secret items, don’t play the secret game.

This really is all your fault for blind buying stuff.

Like purchasing a Monk glyph as a Warrior. Glyphs aren’t bad. I just made a mistake.

Manapearls (got 17 from one one time), Rep tokens (150 and 250), and bodyguard exp (75 for one, sometimes 150 for all)

Again, my gripe isn’t exactly the way the mini game works per se.

I’ve found I generally get a lot more enjoyment out of these things if the first time I try them out I don’t look at a guide. I’d rather have the enjoyment of figuring out the system on my own if possible, rather than instantly knowing the optimal way to confront it. That only holds true though if the penalty for not knowing how to do it perfectly is relatively low.

Compared to other games, WoW is actually mostly good in this regard, but in this case the quest and quest items expiring in a day and Murloco being hard to find (yes, I’ve tried server hopping and the community chat, but just no luck yet) is making me wish I knew to find him first before starting the game.

It’s a minor bummer, but it’s still a bummer.

You… are a genius and should be respected as such.
