Mums and dads playing WoW? :)

I have one boy less than 2 years old. I’ve come to accept that coming back to my screen to find my character dead after frequent AFKs is going to be a regular occurrence. My death count must be in the hundreds now lol.

Same with having to leave middle of dungeon runs (with many apologies) and PvP matches.

That, or just not being able to play at all. Nice, long, relaxing RP sessions are a thing of a past now, too.

It doesn’t bother me, though. That’s just life.

Any other mums and dads playing WoW?

I am a dad, I play after they are in bed. While they are awake my time is spent in a more domestic capacity.

I’ve had this happen not because of children but for many reasons like dogs needing my attention, cooking dinner, etc.

I have teenagers.

Honestly, you would need to schedule your wow play around naps and when they sleep.

All other times, just read a book or watch tv

I’m a mom to an almost four year old.

I used to get a lot more play time in when he was younger and took naps. Now, I can get away with a few spurts throughout the day, but it’s hard to commit to group activity since I never know when he’s going to destroy/need something.

CUT TO: Typical suburban home:"

Dad: “Ah fantastic meal”

Wife: “Thanks dear. Remember your turn to cook tomorrow.”

Dad: “Got it. Well,” /looks at child…“Dinner is over, you know what that means”

Child: “But I can’t skin tonight, I have a math test tomorrow.”

Mom: “Mommy’s leatherworking ain’t gonna raise itself.”

Child: “But I have a test tomorrow! I wanna learn!”

I’ve got a 7 year old and a 1 year old. The 7 year old just wants to watch me play all the time and asks non stop questions about the game. I only let her watch for about 10 mins at a time as I’d rather she did other things (like going to sleep so I can play without distractions).

But yes I only play once both kids are asleep. Would much rather play with my kids than any game.

Mom of 3 here (4,4, and 6). I made gnome characters for each of them soon after they were born. Each has some version of their name (ie: bobxbob) Whenever they would really have a bad day and I was ready to rip all of my hair out I would log on and run their character off a cliff or into a pack of wolves.

Pretty much this, and I have a disabled kiddo.

We (the mom and the dad) play together, and there are stages. Ours is 15 now, so the kid plays, too. ha ha.

When she was old enough to play with it a bit (like 4 or 5), we taught her to pick flowers and fish. She farmed for us.

We made sure to put her to bed on time for raid nights and tried to avoid dungeons when she was awake. It just had to be an evening-only thing for a few years.

That was pretty much it for us for a while, too. When she was up, she needed attention and help…and we wanted to do family things. There was housework to be done, too, so we just found ourselves not playing when the sun was out. Ha ha

I’ve lost count of the amount of times my 1 year old wakes up so I go in to settle him and fall asleep myself. Back to the computer an hour or so later and my character is dead or I’ve been logged out.

I have three 6, 3 and 4 months. I came back when my oldest was one and joined an amazing family guild. They let me tank even though I would have to afk for my kids. Sadly that guild didn’t last too long but it’s encouraging to see other parents playing. Also I loved the idea of making alts for them and taking you frustrations out in game.

I am a dad of three boys, none of which seem to care all that much for World of Warcraft. They are too busy with other games on the Nintendo Switch.

Though they do seem to enjoy when my wife and I play Seven Days to Die, I guess it is the whole (Zombie) theme or something.
